Not a grinder. Was a student of the game, though.

I never particularly liked Prime but all of the weirdos rooting for his failure have converted turned me into a fan.

There's a way to succeed doing what Deion is doing, and that's to hire coordinators who are damn good at their jobs and let them do all the football work while you do all the CEO stuff. Has he done that? Can he do that? Time will tell.

We saw how that worked out with Ed O with all the support in the world at LSU.

Ed had to asked Pete Carol for help! Then he hired a former coach that was out of touch with his coaching style. Drinkwitz even beat LSU when Orgeron was the HC. Then there were communication issues. He won a championship because he got help to find and hire the right coaches and after needed to replace both the offense and defense coordinators the help stopped, and the team flopped big time.

The original post by the OP

He's a buffoon. A clown. He's a hype man.

What he's not is a grinder or a student of the game. Deion is not going to be up at 4 am watching film or installing 3rd and short defensive packages. There's a reason why the most successful coaches are boring, dry and dull- because they're working 75 hours a week. Meanwhile, Sanders is strutting around in a cowboy hat on the sidelines playing celebrity. This will help him get a few recruits and some media attention but that's not a viable solution for coaching success.

To those saying Colorado has nothing to lose, that's sorta true. But all this hire does is keep them from hiring the right coach. Three years from now they'll be back at rock bottom, only about $12M poorer.

Show me again where he mentions white coaches?!

Ed O hired a DC who hadn’t been in FBS ball in over 5 years without even directly interviewing him

Coupled with the disastrous culture he instilled O’s failures fall on him alone, not the model itself

It isn't Vandy, but I have to believe it will be difficult to "fail tremendously at Colorado". They haven't been a great program for a couple decades.

He will likely win 6-7 games this year and 8 next season. Kids play for him. College football is a talent based game. There is a reason the SEC is the best conference and it is NOT bc it has the best coaches. It is because they have had more players drafted than any other conference over the last 17 years. Saban is the best because he gets the best talent , not because of his ability to out scheme his opponent. Deion will do just fine at Colorado and then move to a better program.

I’m not sure of what he’s doing willl work… short or long term but CO has been a retched program for quite sometime

I’d be curious what his overall design to rebuilding looks like or if he’s winging it bc he’s lost nearly 30 players since his hire and there isn’t exactly a large talent pool in waiting

I like prime, but it's not going to work.
He will get recruits in the door but they won't stick around if his actions on video are all the time.

He talked some serious shite at that 1st team meeting. I guess he FAFO. Words have consequences. He may get it together in year 3, but this year will not be pretty.

The reason is they put money into their programs… if that money was in other conferences that’s where the SEC’s talent would be going

Saban does out talent teams. When the talent is similar, he normally loses.

I'm no Alabama fan but this is a bad take. You don't win multiple national titles because of great talent and bad coaching. You might catch lightning in a bottle once like that, if you're lucky. It takes a combination of talent and coaching to have the level of sustained success Saban has had since he took over the Tide. Before Saban, 7-8 wins by Bama was a great year. A bad Alabama team now means they lost 1-2 games and finished outside the top 4.
