Just got a notification that Bregman had elbow surgery today, but should be ready by opening day.

The baseball offseason has officially become stupid. Most of the top free agents are still available since teams are more concerned with pay rates than roster improvement.

DJ Lemahieu and Daniel Murphy both signed for 2 years $24 million. Similar type players to Marwin. Would ya'll want him back on a similar type of deal? MLB trade rumors projects Marwin at 4 years 34 million.

Marwin was at the Rockets game with Bregman 2 nights ago. That might not mean anything.

If there's money to be spent for the lineup, it needs a sure-fire middle-of-the-order bat, not Marwin. But we'll all miss him.

He's not getting a 4 year deal.

Not saying I would be against resigning Marwin, but I completely agree with this.

@ anyone who thinks we’re going to spend big money on a bat

Can you blame FO though? To hell with giving someone Bobby Bonilla type deals with 5x the money.

I’d be highly perturbed if Houston spent that money and gave one of Harper or Machado 8-10 years

At this point, who's left that fits that mold other than Harper? But Harper money and Marwin money aren't in the same stratosphere.

On the free agent market, there aren't any middle of the order bats that make any sense for us.

Not any left, anyway.

I'm torn on the whole Realmuto scenario that has Baby-Tucker headed to FL. I think Realmuto is grossly over-rated. And Tucker will be, at minimum, a replacement for Springer in a couple of years.

Your window is now, you have no idea how the rotation will look next year. The Astros have a great lineup with Realmuto and strong pitching core. Next year you may lose Verlander and Cole, if that happens yes they have promising players in McCullers/McHugh/Whitley/Peacock but you have two legit aces right now. Tucker could be great or he may flop, but you know what you get with Realmuto, a top 3 catcher.

I use the term "spend money" loosely. It refers more to salary allocated because another impact bat would have to come from a trade (unless you count Pollack, perhaps).

You guys probably know already, but:

I know, I’ve just resigned myself to be disappointed with what will happen this offseason outside of a major trade

Ty White is rounding into midseason form. Championship? Note the royal Crest upon his crown.
