No, no, no. It’s way worse than that.

Alvarez PH’d for Meyers and drew a walk. He was promptly pulled for Pinch Runner Dubon.

Singleton PH for Maldy.

The personal cf thing bugs the hell out of me, but goddamn Dubon is finishing the year strong. OPS of .901 in August and .949 in September

At work so unable to watch. So if Brantley was unavailable then Kessinger was the only hitter left, correct? And they pitched to Dubon anyway?

yep, you might say they pulled a Dusty

The orioles players are playing dress up pranks and having fun after clinching the division and still almost swept the Dusty Baker lineups.

You guys obviously don't realize that Javier getting right and having a good outing can be directly attributed to Moldy (When pitchers have bad outings with Moldy catching, those are the pitchers fault).

Javier's fastball velocity was back up to his normal 2022 speeds, averaging about 1 mph faster than almost all of his starts this season.

Maldy didn't do that. Someone tweaked his delivery or grip or something.

Even after all of this bullshite the last few weeks, winning all three series 2-1 would very likely win the division and all but guarantee a wild card spot at worst. Obviously winning the Seattle series is crucial.

In a weird arse way, it might not be a big issue for the Astros to be relegated to a wild card round. They are playing better on the road this year, and assuming they win the wild card round, it would give them the momentum going into the divisional round. Certainly not saying its better than winning the division, but if there is a team better suited to not having home field advantage, its us.

They just clinched a playoff spot... only 2 games ahead of Tampa for the 1 seed, so plenty to play for still.

Also, did we somehow win?

Looking ahead to the Seattle series, it looks like the pitching matchips are

Verlander/Castillo
Javier/Kirby
Framber/Miller

Thread title changed so that we remain compliant as we await the arrival of the Royals tomorrow. Those guys are tough. I sure hope we don't have to play them in the playoffs...

We bitch about parts of the offense, and there are inconsistencies and performances that are frustrating, but we are 5th in MLB in runs scored. In the second half we are 2nd, 6 runs behind Atlanta’s stacked lineup. The pitching staff and defense for this team are why we haven’t been able to put any sort of distance between us and the others. The number of games we’ve lost 8-7, 10-8, 9-6, etc is absolutely infuriating

The pitching has been off, but the offensive inconsistency is also a problem. In 6 of the 10 losses this month, the Astros have scored 2 runs or less, and in another loss, they fell, 5-4. You're not gonna win many games scoring 1 or 2 runs.

Now, the last week, they've lost games where they scored 7, 8 and 5 runs. So, yeah, I think it's definitely more on the pitching. But the manager's stupid lineups don't help in games where the offense even given them a chance.

This division could be decided by a half game. What a battle. Every night is edge of your seat and scoreboard watching.
