Look at the Quintana and Gray trades. Look at Madson and Doolittle. We could have easily pulled those off.
I don't understand why everyone thinks that everything is comparable from team to team.
That's not how it works, that's not how any of this works.

So you think we trade everyone in two or three years? A rational person says hey even if we lose a springer we have a fisher.

Because they are emotional fools

Yeah. I'll even criticize Luhnow for slow playing all of this.
Sort of inexcusable knowing that you have issues pitching. Liriano as a LOOGY is fine, I don't mind it but that's not enough. He obviously values these prospects more than any of us realize. Like a crazy cat woman hoarder.

You've been on point all day tt38.

I like the Liriano move, but elite pitching shuts down elite offense (e.g., Nola, Verlander just shite on us). Keuchel is fine, but we are basically wagering this year on Lance figuring it out.
And next 3-5 years are far from a given. Yanks emerging rapidly, Boston and Cleveland right there. Pretty disappointing.

That means we need to have a staff that can match that, not one that will give up runs and force us to win 9-7 every game. Make sense?
So adding Gray/Darvish gives us that ability?
ETA: You either assume DK and Lance are going to be fine, or adding another guy gets you nowhere.
The only pitching staff that scares me is Cleveland, (because we historically suck against them.
Boston can only run Sale out twice in a 7 game series.
We just beat Sonny Gray a month ago, and we've pounded the shite out of Yankees SP for 2 years now.

A rational person doesn't assume fisher will have the production springer does

I respect what he did. For the wrong reasons.

Now we get to hear Jeff tell us we were in a bunch of conversations but feel good with what we have
Posted on 7/31/17 at 3:03 pm to Tiger Ryno
I guess?
You get what you pay for. Luhnow isn't a penny pincher. He's a prospect pincher. No excuse for any of this. I'll be interested to hear his made exclusively for the media response as to why he didn't land anyone

Exactly.
Absolutely pathetic job by Luhnow.

With this lineup, it's a given that they are contending. I do agree with that

Yes but a rational person also realizes that the WAR of springer and tucker for instance won't be large enough to make.....oh screw it...y'all just melt. I don't care if y'all melt hahah. Most people realize our windows more than two or three years. If you don't that's fine.

I agree with your sentiment but missing Springer and Correa is a pretty big deal.

Yes, Gray and/or Darvish could help keep the opposition in the same 2-4 run ballpark as we would be vs their staffs.
You feel comfortable with LMJ, Peacock, and McHugh as our 2, 3, 4 in a series and holding the runs down when we aren't putting up 10 runs against a quality staff?
