Peacock. I think he would absolutely be a bulldog in a game 1 playoff game.

Because we won't have the pitching to shut down the opposing teams offense? Not complicated.

If we are getting shut down, that means we aren't scoring runs.

Not complicated.

We have literally the best offense in baseball by a wide margin. If another team's pitching staff shuts us down, that will be why we don't win in the playoffs, not acquiring Britton, Hand, Darvish, or Gray.

Might as well forfeit the season now, no sense in playing the games.

We just lost a series in October without playing it.

Wrong. We are set up to compete for the foreseeable future

ETA: save the nothing is guaranteed argument. Nothing guarantees that if we traded for Verlander and Wilson last week that their plane doesn't crash while flying to meet up with the team

So, are you 9, or 99? Because it sounds like you're either extremely young, or old enough to know you won't make it to next season.

The fact that the Padres held out for a top prospect for fricking Brad Hand tells you all you need to know about this trade deadline

Look at the Quintana and Gray trades.

Look at Madson and Doolittle.

We could have easily pulled those off.

We have a great offense. No staff is going to shut us out in a series. But great pitching staffs can hold us to 2-4 runs consistently. That means we need to have a staff that can match that, not one that will give up runs and force us to win 9-7 every game. Make sense?

Not necessarily.

Quintana would have cost us Bregs or Tucker ... no thanks.
