Astros finalize signing Pedro Leon @ $4M deal.
What level does he figure to start the season at?

Guessing maybe A ball? With the hopes he moves up really quick. I don’t even know what minor league baseball is supposed to look like this year though. I’d think at his age they want him in the majors by the end of next season (22) ideally

I'd expect a start in A ball, and a pretty quick rise through the system.
Yuli went through Rookie league, A+, AA, AAA to MLB in a few weeks, but he was also 30ish at the time.

I would imagine an invitation to Spring Training (whatever the hell that is)... and then a quick stay in A-Ball and end up in AA to finish the season. Hopfully AAA early in 2022 and debut in majors by All Star break.
Lance avoids arbitration... getting $6.5M this year. What a freaking steal.

What’s the DATs thoughts on Benintendi?
Posted on 1/15/21 at 2:50 pm to tigers32
Without knowing what Brantley wants I’d rather resign Brantley. Benintendi is set to make 6m this year and say he makes 10 or so in arb next year, I would rather have Brantley at 2/28 or whatever I think. But if he wants a lot more than that/doesn’t want to come back, I think Benintendi is a pretty nice backup option.

I wouldn't trust him in CF, so maybe a backup option to not signing Brantley.

Screw him for making that diving catch in the 9th in the 2018 CS, but other than that I think he's a pretty good player.
I'm interested in what he would cost. Thought I'd read somewhere that Red Sox were looking for MLB ready starting arms, and I do not think the Astros have the ability to just give away starting pitching.
Saying all that to reiterate what everyone else has said, solid backup plan if you cannot get anything done with Brantley.

Ask yourself this. Is Bennitendi good enough to make the Astros contenders? They weren't good enough with springer and Brantley last year. Both better players.
Not worth it to trade prospect capital for someone who makes a negligible difference

Good to see Ryno has been staying in shape in the offseason.

This team fricking sucks. Loser mentality. Trade everybody and reset. These guys are going nowhere this year. The A's are running anyway with this division.

Does that mean there will be fans?

Have to imagine it'll be partial capacity. I'm under no illusion things will be "normal" 2 months from now. If we get 20 percent capacity like the Texans, that's about 8,200 fans.
