For a guy with his approach at the plate, having had a serious injury that caused him to miss significant time not long ago, experiencing the daily wear and tear the last 2 years for $34M, I think the guaranteed money would be attractive to him.
He doesn't have anything left to prove. No need to bet on himself.
When he sees what's about to take place in the market, $30 M is going to look damn good, and he's worth it.

Adam Eaton's option got declined, he was awful this year but looking at his career at a whole he seems like he'd be a good fit.
Depending on the price, I'd really like this route.

Non-guaranteed vet minimum contract is the right price.

Adam Eaton seems like a low risk, low reward sort of signing. I don't know that he'd be much better than Reddick over the course of a season.

I think he would because his approach is a lot different at the plate.
Had a .260 BABIP this past season and his career average is .332.
Reddick just didn’t hit the ball hard and was still trying to spray gaps, I think Eaton knows who he is a little more and probably puts together a much better at bat
I know he had a run in with Todd Frazier from when they were teammates in Chicago, so he might be an a-hole and bad locker room fit. For the right price I think he’s a good fit in the top of this order, just sucks he couldn’t play center field

Braves declines a $3.5 million option on Darren O'Day. He's got a 1.21 ERA over the last 2 seasons with the Braves. Lot of surprising cuts so far.

Amazing article in hindsight

Kevin Cash would have pulled Zack Greinke in time

How would Kevin Cash have managed the top of the seventh inning?
To review, starter Zack Greinke had pitched six innings of one-hit baseball, striking out three and walking one along the way. He wasn’t overpowering (he rarely is these days), but he was in control, moving the ball, hitting his spots, and changing speeds. He’s a good pitcher, and he looked good.
On the other hand, the Nationals had their two, three, and four hitters due up, facing Greinke for the third time, and Rays fans are by now very familiar with the idea that hitters get better the more they face the same pitcher, and that there’s a significant shift in the hitter’s favor from the second time through the order to the third time through the order.
There’s a corollary concept which is more difficult for many to accept: Success in the first part of a game is not a good predictor of success in the latter part. Put another way, just because Greinke was dealing doesn’t mean that he was immune to the times through the the order penalty[

Wait, what? Pulling Grienke late wasn't the problem in that game.
Pulling Grienke early in favor of a reliver that was working to the same lineup for the 5th time in 7 games was the problem.

This was the opposite for Snell in 2020.
This is WAY off for Greinke in 2019 as he was better the third time (41 OPS+s) than the second time (81) and even better than the first (55).
So, in summary, that writer is an idiot.

Strom has lived in the Houston area for a bit and I doubt has any desire to spend another year away from his family at 72. I would be very surprised if he left
At least I’m pretty sure he’s lived in the area for a bit. He was doing the Wolforth pitching camps for a while before becoming pitching coach

Good for AJ, glad he’s already back in the league

Doesn't that kind of prove that the "cheating" scandal was never that big of a deal?
Luhnow might even get hired as well.

Yes I immediately told my buddies that. So much for this being baseballs black eye.
The manager who was fired for it was hired by another franchise as soon as they could
