It crossed my mind. His stuff was shite last night, tipping or not.

Unfortunately, it’s over. Hopefully dusty and his rubber gloves hit the road

I said it last year when the forearm injury happened, "There goes another promising pitcher's arm and another notch on Dusty's bed post."

I still feel that way. Dusty should have never pitched him against the White Sox. He knew the arm was toast and he put him on the mound for 4 innings.

Yes, Lance has the accountability to speak up... but ultimately, the decision is on Dusty. He knew.

Let's just hope Lance can at least have a salvageable career as a closer. We've all known that is his destiny.

I'll wait and see. Win tonight and it's a tie series and we'll guarantee a game back home. Lose and we're done.

We can’t lose tonight obviously. But the Boston series is a good anecdote, as last night reminded me quite a bit of that game 3. Just a shellacking in every aspect

From a few weeks ago

quote:

Lance McCullers Jr heads into the postseason with a 4-2 record and a sparkling 2.27 ERA. That after being worried back in spring training he would need flexor tendon surgery: “When I showed up to spring training I was like 97.5% sure I was gonna have surgery..”

quote:

Lance McCullers Jr reiterated he was concerned during his rehab he’d need surgery. Referencing a moment in June: “Do we throw the towel in & have surgery & keep..pushing thru w/the rehab b/c we didn't want to sacrifice the following season” Lance shared similar thoughts last week

So he was nearly certain he'd need surgery in spring training and it was a consideration during his mid season rehab process. I'm gonna be surprised if he doesn't have surgery in the off season

While in some ways this game was never winnable, in a much more real sense it has never been more winnable

Sure. Its an analog for a comeback. Conversely, last year's world series we lost game 1, won game 2, got shut out on the road in game 3 and lost the series. Sooo....

Fun note: in our last 7 world series games we've been shut out 3 times.

Fun note

I've noticed over the years there are some fun times in the DAT. And then there are some FUN times in the DAT.

But never are the times more funner than the day after the Astros lose a World Series game.

Fun times man.

The Astros roster construction in the World Series is a little mind boggling. The Phillies struggle mightily versus left handed pitching. They feast on Right handed pitching. Of the 22 homers they hit the post season two have come off of left handed pitching. The Phillies struggled against the only left handed starter the Astros have.

Scwarber .900 OPS vs RH pitching
Realmuto .826 OPS vs RH pitching
Harper .953 OPS vs RH pitching
Marsh .735 OPS VS RH (.486 vs lefties)

If you have Will Smith on the roster they should be utilizing him to get some of these key lefties out. Why put him on the world series roster to ride the pine.

Javier has a sneaky fastball right? It is not overpowering but he can spot it and pitches backwards?

Or am I thinking of another guy?

Asking him to get outs against top-tier hitting is like asking SirWinston to stop being a herpes gay clown.

It ain't happening.

We all need to come to the realization that Lance's arm is shot. The sad thing is that he'll probably miss next season and all of this could've been avoided if the arm was repaired last fall. They really didn't need him this year.
