I’m still curious about what he said/did to get into Dusty’s doghouse. I know that Abreu has been lights out in the postseason, but it still doesn’t explain the lack of use that Stanek has gotten.

I think it's clear we have had Montero/Abreu/Neris ahead of him in the pecking order all year for whatever reason. I am fine with Abreu, I think Stanek is better suited some situations than Montero currently, and I think he's clearly better than Neris.

Playing devil's advocate Stanek's WHIP (1.23) was higher than all those guys and he walks a lot of hitters. The starting pitching was so good the first two series there weren't many times he had to reach past those first 3 guys.

Based purely on appearances… I theorize it has something to do with:

Stanek accidentally smoked some of Dusty’s weed.

Or,

Dusty asked to get a taste of stanek’s homegrown and Stanek went all DAT and told him to frick off.

Or,

Stanek isn’t the type to meet with the press and massage Dusty’s prostate like all the other guys are willing to do.

Any of those three things are plausible.

Umpire Dan Iassogna rang up Chas McCormick on two pitches that missed the zone.

The first missed inside by 3.35 inches and the second by 2.15 inches.

Not sure how missing a couple pitches would have somehow given the astros 8 runs

That's the thing about baseball we will never know what could have happened if these pitches were called correctly. Maybe nothing happens. Maybe a small rally that fires up the team and McCullers. The only thing that is known is that ump was fricking retarded behind the plate. I am waiting for the ump score on this one.

I mean i know what you are saying, but McCullers gave up 5 HRs. I dont see a couple blown calls on the astros with 2 outs is going to make that big of a difference when your starting pitchers gives up 5 bombs

It would have changed how the Phillies used their bullpen and how long Suarez stayed in the game. The ump was shite and affected the game for being shite, no need to defend it or “what if” it.

It’s not the reason the Astros lost, but there’s a reason robo umps are coming

complaining about the ump is loser talk. LMJ couldn't hit the zone so he couldn't take advantage of a bad ump and bats are prone to 1 pitch ABs.

We win this series and Mattress Mack gets a statue outside the stadium

"frick you. frick you a-hole."

The Rally nuns couldn't have said it better.

Not as bad as I expected, but those two shite calls on Chas were the most impactful wrong calls.

Looks like the Astros won’t win their first title.

Winning all over 100 games to get beat by an 80 win wildcard team. Damn.

Obviously there’s no guarantee of anything…with Maldy coming up, the inning probably ends anyway. However, in the 2021 ALCS, Jason Castro gets a borderline call that could (probably should) have been strike 3 and ended the inning. Ump called it a ball, Castro singled, drove in a run and the Astros proceeded to get 6 more.

Not only did it change the game, it effectively changed the series.
