Crazy to think that an NBA Final could be Minnesota and Indiana.

What part is crazy though? They’re both really good teams

Minnesota was 1 game back from West #1

Indy was in the East #2-7 logjam separated by only 3 games and finished the regular season hot. No one would find it crazy if they advanced, particularly given the Celtics choking hazard

We’d have an all-Midwest slobberknocker and a first time champion. That would be cool

Because for about two decades you couldn’t compete for a title unless you were a big market team that spent a ton of money or you had a transcendent superstar, often both. The NBA has changed.

Definitely can’t say the NBA is rigged for big market teams.

I think he’s just saying that it’s a sport historically dominated by traditional powers and glamour markets. I feel the same way as the OP, it’s really nice that these smaller market teams have done well as of late.

And the ratings would be the worst ever… which would be fine with me…..

Not rigged, but it's favorable.

They tried to cheat my Pacers vs NY and they will definitely try to cheat them against Boston.

Thanks for your insight, now GFY and GTFO

I doubt the Pacers get past Boston, Minny has to be favored. Don't sleep on playoff Kyrie, though.

Last time the NBA Finals featured teams that never won an NBA title or even made an NBA Finals was 2006 (Heat vs. Mavericks).

Minnesota/Indiana would be the new “two teams to never win a title” matchup. The latter wouldn’t work since the Pacers were in the 2000 Finals.

he's not referring to the quality of the players but the markets

I love it and I hope it is. I root for all small market teams. Especially in the NBA.

Yeah i would like to see Indiana get to the finals but Boston has been the best team all year and will probably take the series 4-2

Honestly would be best for the game, but the Coastal media will shite on the matchup because neither team has a well-established superstar (Ant is a legit top 10 player but the NBA media is always at least a year if not two behind reality) nor are they a “glamour” franchise so they will downplay the matchup, say it’s bad for the nba and ratings.

Then ratings will be down and they will say it’s bad for the game, hurts the business and blah blah blah. No what hurts is you only putting clout on certain players, many of who are well past their primes, and pretending that everyone is suppose to care about the big coastal franchises when most of America is tired of them.

The highest rated game in the history of the NCAA tournament was Indiana State versus Michigan State. Terre Haute market versus the Lansing/East Lansing market. Ant Edwards is marketable.

Ratings talk is a pet peeve of mine. Unless you are a big shot with ESPN or a major advertiser, who gives a frick? LSU makes the national championship game, I’m going to love it, even if I’m the only person watching.
