Not right now but say he focused on football growing up. Is he a good enough athlete to have been a professional football player?

Athlete? Yes, but there's a lot more that goes into football than athleticism. Mentality of hitting/being hit one big one.

He focused on the correct thing growing up

You have to be tough as nails to play in the NFL

where did I say he didn't? I'm just wondering if one of the top athletes in baseball is physically gifted enough to perform other sports at a high level

Probably. Top MLB players don't get enough credit for their athleticism.

probably not... What position would he play? He'd have to be a LB or a TE

He’s 6’2” 235 with good speed/quickness and world class hand eye coordination. Athleticism wouldn’t be a problem.

He’s big enough and fast enough to play almost any position. The only question is could he acquire the particular skills to play a particular position. That’s something we will never know.

And the mental aptitude it takes to play in the NFL.

what's your point here?

There's lots of guys in the NFL that can only make it in the NFL at one or two positions. It's pretty rare for a guy to be able to lineup anywhere.

Guys also adjust their bodies starting in high school or earlier through the weight room so they can fit at a specific position. They don’t just do whatever the frick and their college and NFL team is like “oh you fit here”

My guess is Trout would be a little trimmed down and be a safety or RB

trout is 6.4 60 yard dash guy @ 6'2" 235

by comparison tim tebow was a 6.7 @ 6'3 245

just think, bean poles like billy hamilton (160 lb) and dee gordon (170 lb) have reached max speed of 21.2 MPH and 21.1 MPH on steals of 2B, respectively. Trout is a 20.8 mph guy at 235

He is an elite athlete. No doubt he could play in the NFL

Don't tell chalmette that he thinks the guy doesn't have a position on the field My guess is chalmette is somebody who doesn't watch baseball, thinks most baseball players are unathletic slobs and assumes trout is slow since he's a white guy to boot

I agree. MLB players are more athletic than people realize. Baseball is not easy.

Trout is pretty damn tough.....reckless in the field and on the bases. Only 1 trip to the DL in 7 years. I could definitely see him as a Will LB or outside in a 4-3 with that size and speed.
