just a month or so ago... a Sacramento State player bitched on Twitter after a baseball blog named a NAIA player a pitcher of the week instead of a teammate... running down the NAIA in the process

2 days later... Sacramento State (Big Sky Conference... a DI conference) lost to a NAIA school in a midweek game

Yup. Case in point

You could argue that this was an exhibition game and Auburn didn't really try. But the fact is they still lost.

LSU too

What? I was that game, it was my first game as an LSU student and it got pushed up to early morning for a hurricane. We kicked their arse and Charles Scott went off.

The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN ended up 4-14 in the Summit league this year. They were a Division III school last year.

Is this thread for real? D2 and NAIA teams beat D1 teams in basketball every single year.

These things do happen. All the time really.

In 2014, a Memphis team coming off an eight seed NCAA campaign lost its first game to crosstown DII Christian Brothers.

But a DII school beating an FCS one in football is relatively more rare than other sp9rts.

A D2 team beat the Phillies a few years back in an exhibition game.

Davidson (fcs) won but gave up 61 points to a DIII football team in 2018.

Yes. There are some very bad D1 teams. In some sports (lacrosse being one that I know a lot about), any top 25ish D3 team could beat quite a few D1 teams.

There was a year in like 2002 where Auburn at Montgomery was the GOAT college tennis team of all time. They had 4 players that used to be top 200 in the world. These guys took shite tons of money in their pro careers and were extremely ineligible, but the coach cheated his calls off and nobody in the ncaa cared to go after a DII school

I mean these were legit 26 year old pro tennis from South America players all on the same team

A lot of the top D2 schools should be in D1, and a lot of the bottom D1 schools should be in D2.

So yes this could happen.

Especially in basketball and baseball.

I remember back when I was kid in 1979, tiny Cadwallader University in Nevada was able to schedule a basketball game against UNLV and upset them on a last-second shot.

The Cadwallader team was mostly composed of black inner city guys recruited by rookie coach David Greene, originally from Brooklyn.

If you’re just saying DI and not differentiating between FBS and FCS absolutely.

I went to Angelo State University (DII) and we used to play Southwest Texas State and Sam Houston regularly. Won a few in the 90s with a really good team.

LSU had their hands full with Loyola-NO last year, they were winning for 4-5 innings. Loyola's team was 12 games below .500

LSU didn't play Loyola in baseball last year. We haven't played them since 2003 when the score was 21-6.

I know for a fact there are d2 tennis players that would destroy d1 players. They are all foreign.
