How can Miami only get one team listed. Catholics vs Convicts wasn't even in 1986 iirc.

There is a receny bias and social media amplification at work with the original list.

Yeah but I just don't see how that team belongs with the others on the list for the bulk of the season. The hatred for 2010 Auburn seems to be confined to the SEC more than anything. I didn't get the vibe the whole country was rooting against them like some of the others on the list.

I'm biased but that year I definitely didn't get hate from friends/fans outside of the SEC. I'm sure there was some, but I think some people might be conflating how badly the media wanted Auburn to go down with how many people nationally even cared.

5) 1996 Florida
4) 2010 Auburn
3) 2013 Florida St
2) 2005 USC
1) 1986 Miami

Is it hated during the season or hated afterwards? Did anyone really hate 2002 Ohio State? The hate was created after the title game. Teams like 2010 Auburn and 2013 Florida State were hated during the season.

2017 Oklahoma is way too random to be in the top 10. Why do we hate them?

Not sure how ‘96 Florida is on here. Really the only possible reason is spurrier’s arrogance.

The original mulligan team. FSU had to replay them even though they beat them the final week of the regular season because Jake Plummer and ASU and a damn good OSU team were locked in the Rose and BYU got locked out.

Without that gift, Spurrier has zero championships.

I think we're talking about specific teams, like 2005 USC, not programs.

From what I can tell no one really hates Clemson yet. They're seen as doing God's work by beating Bama.

You’re completely right here

The only people who hate Clemson are Gamecock fans

Ohio St would probably occupy 2 or 3 of my top 10. Notre Dame would definitely get in there once or maybe twice. One of the Spurrier led Gators teams makes it.

Along with the Mulligan.
I think Spurriers team was so hated because it went against the grain
Conference known for running the ball and just football in general

He comes in chucking the ball all over the field, embarrassing teams and being a complete dick about it

If you watch the last interception in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl, you can hear the entire press box clapping and cheering that Penn State won. It's one of the most surreal things I've seen in sports.

The press openly cheering for one team. That's how much Jimmy Johnson and the Canes were hated.

Yes.

That's why it's still the most watched bowl game of all-time.

People were tuning in to see Miami lose. They were hoping for the massive upset and got it.

Hate brings more eyeballs then love.

if they only knew what kind of sick and twisted shite was going on behind the scenes at PSU (Sandusky) maybe they wouldn't have been as pumped.

I'm pretty biased, but man frick that team. It's nice to see Winston imploding his career. No player deserves all the shite they catch more than that guy.

1990 Colorado should be on the list but is probably too old for most people to remember.

Had a BS win gifted to them because of the "5th down" and then another BS win in the bowl game over Notre Dame because ND's game winning TD got called back on a phantom clipping penalty.

The team itself wasn't responsible for bad officiating, but it was still rather irritating.

That list is pretty lame. There's not even one FSU team from the '90s on there. I hated those teams far more than '96 Florida or '02 Ohio State.

Also, considering they went back four decades, the '17 OU inclusion is random as hell. One of their mid-80s teams seems like a more obvious choice.

In fairness to Florida, they were number 1 the entire season until they lost by 3 at doak in the regular season finale.

Arizona st could have won the national title without beating the #1 team (FSU), but they lost to a 1 loss Ohio st team.

Florida won the SEC, you can’t say they backed into anything.
