Hate is defined by an intense or passionate dislike for something, an emotion often generating a nauseating feeling of fire and animosity.

And like the New England Patriots, New York Yankees and Golden State Warriors, everyone hates a winner. Gloating in victory and dripping with arrogance, teams led by legendary coaches and big-name stars are at the center of conversation and always find themselves in the championship conversation. College football and its current lack of parity narrative is no different.

After combing through the annals of the past four decades of college football, we've picked 10 teams every fan loved to hate

10) 1997 Michigan
9) 2012 Alabama
8) 2017 Oklahoma
7) 2002 Ohio St
6) 1993 Notre Dame
5) 1996 Florida
4) 2010 Auburn
3) 2013 Florida St
2) 2005 USC
1) 1986 Miami

How would your list look?

Texas not being on the list is suspect.

How often does someone say “Bama isn’t ranked high enough in that poll”?

Miami had legendary hatred from the 80s through the 2000s. And it comes back fairly easily when they start winning because they and their fan base tend to be such huge douche bags.

The issue is that you didn't put the year to the team. Certain teams were hated a ton, like 2010 Auburn and 2013 FSU. That is why they are 3/4 on this list

It isn't an overall hatred for programs

No one will ever top Miami hatred from the 80's though. They were so cocky, brash and acted like celebrities (looking at you Michael Irvin.)

The entire country was rooting for Penn State to beat Miami in the Fiesta Bowl.

And probably most of the country was rooting for Texas to beat USC given the media love (akin to officiating SEC love that Bama gets) and like Miami acting like celebrities in tinsel town...

Any list like this is likely gonna have the same teams, but I don't really agree wiht their list.

Miami at 1? Miami in the late 80s was hated because of who they were and how they acted (in addition to being good, obviously). But I mean other than that era..so what? NObody hated miami in the mid-late 90s. People may have "hated" them early 2000s in the same way people "hate" whoever is the best team at the time. 2005ish to present? I doubt miami is even a blip on the public's consciousness.

ETA: would have been nice to see the years added in OP before I responded

will respond again now that years are added.

No real arguments wiht 1 and 2 I suppose. I would put '10 AU higher. 2013 FSU? Eeeehhhhhh, people didn't like jameis but I don't think they were nationally hated to such a large degree they merit #3 on the list. '96 UF, what did they do? Aside from simply being really good and the coach being a choch I'm struggling to find a reason for their inclusion.
