He's gone at the end of this season if he doesn't right his ship.

I mean Dabo has mailed it in. Hiring Dollar Tree Gus Malzahn as his offensive coordinator this off-season proved that. He doesn't give a shite

Well on some level I respect Dabo for not giving in to it all.

He’s in the middle of a $115,000,000 contract. Clemson would owe him $57.000,000 if they fired him at the end of the season. Absurd money for what is essentially an extracurricular activity at an institution of higher learning.

Dabo (and other coaches) are eating at the same trough of greed and money as the players. The coaches were just there first, and any coaches who try to butt out players looking for a spot to feed won’t survive.

But Clemson’s problems are bigger than NIL and the portal. They have looked dysfunctional at times in recent years, and Dabo has made a number of coordinator and assistant changes on both sides of the ball that haven’t improved the program. Morris is the third OC in five years, and he isn’t off to a very good start.

Dabo is only good if he has elite QB play. Put Watson or Lawrence on Clemson and they’d still be good. He simply hasn’t had that level of QB since

This. Dabo hasn't had a good QB since Lawrence.

That and he ran into a buzz saw of a defense last night.

If anything, last night showed that money attracts mercenaries and mercenaries will win you football games.

So many on the field won't be at LSU past mid January as they either go pro or get released for some newer names that can contribute. Next year , rinse and repeat....think about it, 40+ transfers.

Clemson is not winning the ACC. I'm afraid they are looking at 5-7.

Clemson is also preparing to try and leave the ACC earlier, either through giving up media payouts for multiple years, large payout, or litigation. No way they can do that and buyout Dabo. Smaller alumni base.

It won't be a firing but I'm sure Clemson will convince Dabo to step down and retire after this season. That way the relationship is maintained and maybe Dabo can even be an Ambassador for the University, while getting him out of the football building. Similar to how Saban still has an office at Alabama and is essentially an ambassador.

Is it really though? I looked it up and Clemson has around 30,000 students if you include graduate students. LSU by comparison has just over 40,000 students if you include graduate students. So LSU is bigger but it's not like Clemson is some small private school.

By comparison, I looked at South Carolina, and I found a range of 38,000 - 40,000 students. You would think Clemson would have a big enough alumni base to be able to raise significant funds.

Yes, but its more about having a handful of big money boosters (including at least 2 or 3 people with FU level money) you essentially make the un-official governing board of the football program with the power to trump the AD and even the university president. 20 years ago I would have puked saying that, but now its clearly the only way to play the game.

Yes. It’s just over the past decade it went from 20k to 30k. It didn’t cross 20k until 2010 or so. Certainly it has grown, and maximized that growth because of the football success in the 2010s, but the alumni base in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s isn’t as large as you might expect.

Doubtful. Miami, Virginia and probably Duke are better.

South Carolina

I could see a world where they get to 8-5. LSU and Miami are the only opponents currently ranked.

They could also be 1-4 after Miami. UNC's defensive line will be a problem for Clemson and then they have to go to California on a short week.

nearly impossible to get donors to keep forking out huge piles of cash for long periods of time. same thing will happen to Indiana, Michigan, LSU, etc.
