the nba and espn, whoever else airs the wnba, would just collaborate to fix the game so the WNBA would win and pay the high school team under the table

haha it seems it always comes down to paying men to claim to be trans so they can stomp the women to prove this point because actual trannies aren't good at sports.

I get his motive for doing this in terms of being edgy and getting clicks, but I don't really get the controversy here.
No sane person thinks the WNBA team would be competitive with a bunch of elite, 6'5" + high school boys who will likely soon be D1 players.
The same way I wouldn't expect female shot-putters to beat men, or Olympic female swimmers to be faster than elite young men.
What's the point?

In the year 2026 there are still a lot of guys that need to hear how superior they (and by they, i mean kids that actually play sports) are to women at sports. Stroking egos has always been a profession. It used to be strippers, now it's grifters.

What does trannies have to do with women beating a mens state championship team? Is there some mens state championship team full of trannies that we haven't heard about?
Or is there a womens high school championship team with trannies that he wants the wnba to play?

But we live in a culture where there is an institutional commitment to at MINIMUM being very shy and cagey about the reality of M-F differences. Often, it's outright denial. People say stuff like "the average guy knows x, y, z so this is dumb" but the society and culture is an intentionally obtuse alternate reality we all have to operate in. This is why Clay is probably attacking, alongside a healthy dose of the absurdity of the trans debate.
Stick a microphone in the face of an average adult who has a career in corporate America and say "is the WNBA an objectively inferior basketball product" and watch the hedging. That's not innate. That's learned.

Really?
The point is obviously to show the absurdity of the idea that "trans women" in women's basketball doesn't undermine the game. Or more specifically, since a lot of people keep doing the "is this even an issue in the WNBA" thing - it's a fight at the very top level of women's sports intended to visibly reflect the more realistic and impactful debate at lower levels of women's sports.
Whether or not this is a fair example of the ridiculousness of the narrative is another matter. But I'm sure plenty of people would find it compelling that 14-18 year old amateur HS boys could slaughter the world's best women, some with a decade more training at a high level, in a discussion about whether women's sports should tolerate biological men.

So you don't think the average corporate America person giving a public interview would caveat or hesitate as to this answer?
I don't really care about the % here. Maybe more than half would enthusiastically give an answer without concern that it's a touchy topic, but I personally don't think that's reality. My point is the same regardless, if a healthy swath of the population has to tread a bit carefully to provide an obvious truth in public - something has happened there.
Either way, it's not an "internet" thing, at least in the sense I think you mean. I just asked Gemini, who gave me a nicely caveated, conditioned and hedged response that avoided saying it was superior except as to a limited sentence on size and raw athleticism. I doubt Gemini is drawing from alternate realities of X - it's drawing from the institutional hedging on these questions that you can see on cable news, in academia, entertainment, sports outlets, etc.

Say this on any MSM outlet and you'll be branded a transphobe bigot on-air. Calling Griner trans has been labeled hateful and bullying for years. But now when it's time to talk about trans people in the WNBA, you get "It's not like Griner, who is probably trans, dominated."
And what's more, it's for nothing. No reasonable person believes men should play in women's leagues or use women's bathrooms. But there is a whole subset of men in the country who will push back on this stuff for the sole reason that they don't like the people who say these obvious things out loud.
