790 The Zone in Atlanta is reporting Chipper has a torn ACL, out for the season. No word on how this will affect Chipper's decision to retire.

Man I wanted the Mets fans to give him a standing Ovation for a great career

if he is in fact done and he already knows hes retiring, i wish they'd let him start a game and then immediately take him out before the pitcher throws one pitch. He deserves a standing O from the hometown crowd at least.

I knew it was going to come sooner or later, but damn, I've been watching him play for 15 years. It's going to be tough without him

Term for a Celtic F.C. fan. Taken from the belief that the entire fanbase is a bunch of Irishmen.

Thank you. How will Celtic do this year in the Scottish league?

Back to Chipper, it would be a shame if he went out this way.

Man this sucks so badly for Chipper. To have to sit in the dugout while the team he's played with his whole career is fighting for a playoff spot.

I said earlier in the year I thought Chip was coming back next year unless it were for a serious injury, well here it is

Wow this sucks

Sucks to see him lost for the year, especially if he does hang it up to have to see him go out like that.

An interesting post in the comments section on Dave O'Briens AJC Braves blog...isn't 3rd base Glaus's natural position? Any chance we move him across the diamond for the rest of the season?

You haven't seen many games this year, I'm guessing?

He can barely make it over to cover 1st before the runner gets there, do you really want him covering the hot corner?

If this is indeed the end of Chip's career, it sucks that it wasn't on his terms, but it was fitting that it ended with him sacrificing his body and making an outstanding play.

CHIPPER
It won't be the same without you.

I got nothing against the Braves or Chipper. He had one hell of a career. Looks like this could be the end unless he can be caoxed into a DH role in the AL, but I doubt he wants to go out like that.

Chipper has long been my least favorite player, but that's not how I'd want him to end his career.
