Looks like this could be the end unless he can be caoxed into a DH role in the AL, but I doubt he wants to go out like that.

quote:No, I have seen most of the games this year. My thought was that Chipper has never really had great range at 3rd - even he has admitted that he has benefitted from being able to position himself based on where the pitchers are locating the ball and hitting those spots. He has made some great plays, like Tuesday, but his range has always been average imho.
He can barely make it over to cover 1st before the runner gets there, do you really want him covering the hot corner?
Was just a thought with TG - he hasn't seemed all that comfortable at first a good bit this year, so I thought maybe a move back to his natural position would help and the change in defensive range wouldn't be all that different.

Yeah but Glaus can't move two feet, and that's literally

Yeah I hear ya, but it would
Prado will move to 3rd, Infante will be at 2nd, and Glaus will stay at first

It doesn't make any sense though. Even if Glaus could fall down quick enough to get to balls 5 feet to his left or right (which he can't), you'd be replacing him at 1st with Prado. Obviously you'd rather have Prado at 3rd than Glaus. Now if Prado wasn't coming back after the weekend, then I guess you could propose Glaus moving over to 3rd, but there is no way in hell he can play 3rd at any level anymore.
I would venture to say Glaus will be in the AL next year.

well at least my signed game worn Chipper jersey is going to be worth money quicker than I thought it would be.
But that sucks for Chipper. Maybe he invested in a Hooters in Atlanta and will be around the city forever.

When's Prado coming back? I'm guessing he fills at third. Bobby loves him there. ???

I think he's suppose to take batting practice today. Probably after the weekend.
Edit: He's taking batting practice tomorrow actually.

This will be interesting. This case Infante stays in the line up full time.
Prado Infante Heyward 1 2 3 Good onbase %s at the top the line up.
Damn Chipper was just getting his swing together this year too.

not to be a dick or anything.. but can jason heyward bat 3rd now?
maybe conrad in the 2 hole. we do get prado back and now infante can be an all time starter!! we still gotta get glaus a break imo.. bring of freeman.

I look at this as Chipper passing the 3 Hole torch down to Heyward. It's time. Chipper even said earlier in the year that Heyward was more of a 3 hole hitter for this line up the way things were going. Granted Chipper was just coming into his own but I like Heyward 3rd.

I have a feeling the Braves will hire him in some capacity. Hell, maybe even as a hitting coach.

Yeah the top of the lineup should/will be
Infante
Prado
Heyward
actually think this will work out in our advantage. Got two guys who are gonna get on base and get a guy like Heyward a spot lower in the order where he could do damage. He was so limited in the 2 hole when his job was just to get on base. Now he can let his swing go and start mashing again
Chip was playing better lately and batting over .300 his last 45 games but he still didnt have near the pop as a 3 hole hitter should have or as J has. I love Chipper and he will forever be my favorite player of all time but this could actually work out for the best

Lyle Overbay cleared waivers.
Wonder if we could make a move on him and get Glaus the frick out.

Damn that sucks. Rough way to go out if that's it but his body has been breaking down for a while now.
As for the lineup, it should be more than fine with Prado at third and Omar at second, it just hurts our bench.

Of course this is all banking that Prado recovers from the whacked pinkie and continues to be a .300+ hitter. Normally I would be concerned but Prado's work ethic and need to be a perfectionist eases my mind.

Infante
Prado
Heyward
McCann
Diaz
Freeman
Gonzalez
Ankiel

We now have a spot open
call Freeman up
what do ya got to lose? Other than a few days of arbitration eligibility
I'm sure it will be Brandon Hicks or someone else that can play a couple positions though
