I can't believe this. Chip's the only third baseman I know.
Well, him and Vinny Castilla

Trying to be positive here:
1.) We get to replace him win an allstar in Infante and/or a guy who has played extremely well this year in Conrad.
2.) If he was going to retire at the end of the year, this gives us the ability to evaluate if we can fill 3rd base with guys in house or if we have to use his money to sign a free agent. ( basically Infante and Conrad are playing for an everyday spot for next year).
3.) With the extra bench spot we may have to bring Freeman up for the playoff run. I know this may not be ideal for the team but I am selfish and want to see him play this year.
4.) Maybe the Braves will feel the need to claim a bat off of waivers we wouldn't have gone after originally further helping the club.
Just a few thoughts

I think whatever happens we should keep Conrad in the lineup. Mybe stick agon in left if his defense at short doesn't get better. Then put infante at short when prado returns.

Well, uh, no.
Conrad won't ever start (of course, I used to say the same about Matty D) and Gonzalez won't play anything but short.

Gonzalez's defense should turn around, he's been known as a good defensive shortstop for a long time.
To me it seems fairly simple, Prado/Omar at third, Agon at short, Prado/Omar at second, Glaus at first. Conrad is a good bench guy.
Definitely not Agon to left.

I support Hinske/Glaus and Melky/Diaz platoons.

I support Glaus never playing again

In this thread we have Glaus to 3B and Gonzo to LF..I mean, seriously?
Posted on 8/12/10 at 11:03 pm to SwampDonks
Glaus and Conrad would make a mighty fine platoon at the hot corner.

Anyone who has watched a game in the last two months wouldn't want Glaus at 3B. Leave Glaus at 1B if they don't bring up Freeman. I think Prado at 3B and Omar the All-Star at 2B. I'm really hoping Chipper's roster spot (at least on the 40) is filled by Freeman.

Favorite player of all time and truly a great player and person on and off the field.

This still hasn't sunk in for me. I won't believe he's done till I see it.

I know
He's had a great career. It won't be the same without him there

i remember when chipper was first coming up and a lot of people including his father said he should hold out for money.. and he said no.. he wanted to earn it and knew in time he'd be rewarded.
he was truly a team player.. he even played left field a couple of seasons.. and he hated it with a passion, but he never said one word about it.
i wanted to add that i truly think heyward is more like chipper than any other player comparison.. in terms of his hitting approach.
