Per ESPN.

Could have huge implications for the playoffs. But why is nobody talking about the possibility (key word) that they are doing this to give the Heat a win (or at least make it probable) to keep the Bulls out of the playoffs?

IIRC, the Bulls are 4-0 against the Cavs this season and are vying for that 8th spot. Is it possible the Cavs could be trying to prevent them from making it to avoid playing them? Or the flip side is that if the Cavs lose and Celtics win, the Cavs have the two seed (where they would avoid the Bulls in the first round even if they do make it in).

And no, I'm not saying anybody is "scared" of anybody else, just wondering why it isn't really being talked about.

I don't think Lebron would do that to wade intentionally TBH. Hasn't Lebron sat out games v CHI this year? I've noticed He Sits when he plays his friends squads to give his bud a win.

Did he miss the first three games against Chicago?

Honestly asking because I don't know.

Seeing as half of the bulls hate each other and the coach, I don't think they're too worried about playing them

Kyrie is having knee issues. That is Cleveland's real concern right now

Hold up...

Lebron had 26 points in 39 minutes in the Bulls game on March 30th.

FYI, Kyrie played 28 minutes and Love played 21.

James also played in two of the other three games, all losses.

So there goes that theory.

Right. So back to the original question...

I don't think the defending champions are making any decisions to position themselves in any way for the first round of the East playoffs.

I think it's more about they're done trying to chase #1 in the East, thanks to the fact they blew two straight against the Hawks (it's notable because the first one was against the Hawks bench, and the second they blew a 26 point lead) with...

1. LeBron playing 41 and 47 mins respectively.
2. Kyrie's knee acting up.

I wouldn't be surprised if yesterday's meltdown was the last we've seen of the Cavs starters in the regular season.

Either way Lebron's a baby back bitch so why does it matter?

I think the Cavs saw what they did to Boston in a "big game" last week, and aren't very worried about potentially traveling for Game 1 of the conference finals. This may be their way of almost taunting them a bit. Like, here, have the 1 seed. We don't need it.

Also, Cleveland would probably rather face Toronto in the 2nd round than Washington. They'd draw Toronto if they are the 2 seed.

Either way, I don't think they really care. If they're the 1 seed, that's still a good thing, obviously.

I highly doubt CLE cares at all but if they do, records be damned I think they'd prefer to play CHI as opposed to MIA.

I don't think the Cavs care and they will coast to the Finals imo.

I don't see anything wrong with using your standing and schedule in your favor

Yeah either way it won't matter that much, but this is still weird. They'll coast in the first round, rest or not. I think I'd take the first seed over this extra rest, considering they'll coast in the first round anyway.

The Heat are more dangerous than the Bulls.
