Second contract is where you get paid. Of course he wants to maximize it.

And Micheal Vick/Cam Newton are likely 2 of the top 10 most physically talented QBs in the leagues history. What does it matter? Neither are HOF QBs(not by my definition)and neither were elite aside from a season or game here and there. All that to say, Hurts is a better QB than Jackson. Physical gifts be damned. Would you want Jackson or Hurts leading your if all the other pieces are there? I take the guy that wins and doesn't lose me the game trying to be special.

Top 10 NFL qb also former NFL MVP wants to get paid more at 10 Tom. Imagine thinking an athlete wanting to maximize their value is greedy.

So how much guaranteed money do you think Jackson is worth?

I don’t think he’s greedy at all. He’s trying to maximize his big contract after performing really well on his rookie one.

I’d give him 3 years of being the highest paid qb in the league. Fully guaranteed. He’s not going to want that so I’d likely end up trading him for a haul to someone who would.

People love to bring up his MVP but not acknowledge the fact that it was won largely due to his running ability which will continue to decline with age and injury (which are now occurring more frequently).

He’s never going to be as explosive and heal as well as he did in his early 20s. He likely could continue to improve as a passer but I wouldn’t want to be paying him like Mahomes if he had lost a few steps with his legs. Just seems like a big risk for a guy who will potentially be a depreciating asset at a time when most qbs are hitting their prime.

Not gonna be mad at a guy trying to get as much money as he can coming off his rookie contract. That’s what your supposed to do.

Lamar won an MVP. Theres guy who have accomplished less, but still got a big pay day. Where’s Josh Allen’s MVP? Where’s Kyler Murray’s MVP? Where’s Deshawn Watson MVP?

Lol who is saying this? Other than media members who are afraid to say the truth because they may be blasted for being racist. The dude is mediocre at beat. He is a great runner, and can make plays. But how many years/games do you get of that before he is down. History has shown his type doesnt make it too long in the nfl. He is not an accurate enough passer to sit in the pocket. He is only known because of his ability to make plays running, which in nfl... is a short shelf life. So why pay someone like that mega bucks. On the flip side lamar knows the time is now to cash in before those legs break down. Smart move by him

That isn't as bad as LSU fans claiming they shut down Mahomes in the Texas Bowl.

Pointing to awful contracts like Kyler and Deshaun’s isn’t a good way to justify overpaying for Lamar

And to think that Lamar is a better QB than Josh Allen because he has an MVP is laughable.

I dont think he is worth as much money as he is trying to get but the Ravens fricked him with the lack of weapons around him. His top receiver was 36 yr old Desean Jackson.

Lsu gave you the blueprint on how to stop him I’m not saying he’s a scrub but to think he’s worth 235 million guaranteed is absolutely insane the browns were desperate and he doesn’t even want an agent because they would get a piece of the pie finish a season with a couple playoff wins and then we will talk

The blueprint is to ensure your defense is loaded with better athletes than every player on the other team's offense, except for the QB of course. How often does that happen in the NFL?

Not all, but there are a large number of LSU fans who judge players off of one game ther played against LSU. Trevor Lawrence, AJ Terrell, Lamar Jackson, among others. It’s strange and you don’t really see it from other fan bases.

did you miss the part where I said I'm not saying he's worth what he's asking. Just because he may not be worth 200 mil guaranteed (IMO) doesn't mean he's a bad quarterback.

Lamar Jackson is a one trick pony. I hope Atlanta does work a deal for him. He has already shown a sign of becoming injury prone. He go to Atlanta and it will wreck the falcons for years.

I'm not sure about that. The greatest attribute Jalen Hurts has is his attitude. He has a work ethic far above most QBs. But physically, Lamar Jackson is better than Jalen at everything.

The stats don't back that up. Since Jalen became a starter the last two years, he's been better by pretty much every metric. This season Hurts threw for 600 more yards than Jackson has ever thrown in one season. Hurts has a better completion percentage, more passing yards, has thrown for more TDs, has more rushing yards, more rushing TDs... In the last two seasons Hurts has thrown for nearly 70% of Jackson's career total passing yards. Across the board Hurts has been better.

If Jackson stayed healthy, maybe the numbers would net out better in his favor, but that's another key issue. He hasn't been able to stay healthy.

I just don’t understand why he wouldn’t have an agent at this point. I get not wanting to go pay the commission but who is even handling all of the outreach for him? Is Lamar himself personally fielding calls from interested teams or is there someone helping that just isn’t receiving a proper agents share
