re: Can someone provide actual facts on the Astros cheating scandal?

Personally I don't care that they did this, I don't mind them getting punished for getting caught. Same in the old days with pitchers doctoring the ball or batters loading their bat's. Hell, MLB was on its death bed following another lengthy strike when the likes of Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa brought people back to the game, and after it surfaced that they were juicing it was "all about the kids" blah blah blah. Those owners didn't give that money back, because those sluggers saved the game. Bottom line, baseball has always had a culture of trying to get away with whatever it can, to satisfy the win at all costs mantra.
We sure have gotten testy lately.

The irony in the Trump post is quite amusing.

You have downvotes because you are playing the "We weren't the only ones doing it and it's not even a big deal" card.
Well it’s true
Eat or be eaten. If you have someone come directly from your playoff competition saying they are doing this I completely get implementing it. We got caught so we got punished. As I said it is what it is. Even with the apologies its still not enough for the mob.

Everyone steals signs.
Astros brought technology into it and did it better than anyone.
People got sour.

I still don't think you think your team did anything wrong, which is probably another reason you are getting down votes. Even if you say it is wrong and maybe even think it, you come off the opposites with your OP.
ETA: I don't give two shits really, but you and most Astros fans on the site are taking the same line so it shouldn't be some huge revelation like it is for the OP.

The Dodgers are SO mad they just traded for one of the cheaters.

As technology around the game exploded, teams installed additional cameras around the ballpark as training and scouting tools. Starting in 2018, with paranoia among clubs peaking, MLB mandated that teams catalog and register those cameras with the league to ensure they were used legally. As far back as 2015, the Yankees used the video replay room to learn other teams’ sign sequences, multiple sources told The Athletic. Other teams likely were doing the same. Sources said the Red Sox began doing it no later than 2016. “Oftentimes it takes a player to show up and be like ‘You f—— morons, you’re not doing this?’” said one American League executive. quote: “I’m just telling you from a broad perspective, living it, it didn’t feel that wrong,” said one player who used the replay-room system with the Yankees as far back as 2015. “It was there for everyone, that’s all.” Veteran players who were skilled at picking up tendencies by watching on-field action knew what to look for on video as well. “If I could figure out the signs from the telecast, I was not going to hold on to that information,” that former Yankee said. “I was going to share that with whomever.” By 2017, with rules governing electronic sign stealing still lacking the specificity that would come the next season, the Red Sox, Yankees and Astros were all using their replay rooms to help decode sign sequences in some way, sources said. There are indications other teams did so as well. One National League general manager expressed a feeling that it was fair game.
This is directly from an article by Ken Rosenthal.
There is enough smoke around all of this to suggest that most playoff teams were doing some form of electronic sign stealing. We just got on their level in 2017. Was it against the rules? Yes and we got caught and punished far more than similar situations in the past. We were made an example of.
Am I going to ask for your forgiveness and call the Indians the 2016-2019 champs like you want? No

Yankees fans are FURIOUS!
So furious, they celebrate the signing of one of them that knew what was going on to a max, record setting contract.
Priorities, amirite?

As a fan you are giving yourself way too much credit for what your favorite baseball team did, but you are still doing nothing but making excuses for them.

From what I can tell their road winning percentage was higher than their home winning percentage — .654 away v. .593 at home. Does this mean they were a better team when they were not stealing signs? I am assuming they could not have been using this system to steal signs on the road.

You are the one asking me to show contrition and want me to disown all the players which is continuing to prove my point.

No one will acknowledge that. I haven’t seen anyone do so.

Do you really want your mind blown? Look up their home and road batting splits on the season. FARRR better on the road but don’t let that get in the way of piling on the asterisks

Haha no, but it's a bad look to start making more excuses in response to a post started by someone who completely denied anything happened. You are surely smart enough to see that.

Adam, much like the will wade stuff, your delusion runs rampant. At some point you’ll realize a pattern in your behavior.
