yeah but he's clearly lost more than 1 step and is starting to really rack up injuries

He still had 1200 yards this year

Detroit draft Sanders and Johnson who end up being up there at the best of their position all time and then they both retire early at 30.

Lost a step or two and still finished with 1,200 yards and 9 touchdowns

For sure, he's gotten better at some of the technical aspects of the position though to make up for it. Not criticizing him for hanging it up, but he would have been a big pickup for a contender this offseason if he had been cut or traded. Still had plenty left to give

Man what a life to be able to retire at 30 and live an extremely comfortable life (if he doesn't royally screw up). Good for that guy.

and he will have plenty of avenues to earn money doing other things if he wants

huh, he had his 3rd highest reception total of his career in a single season in 2015 (88).

he did have that huge game against the Eagles on Thanksgiving. He scored 3 TD's in that game.

had 10 catches for 137 yards and a TD in the finale vs. the Bears.

It doesn't even seem that long ago when he was at GaTech.

So he couldn't go a different team this year even if he wanted to right? He'd have to sit out 2016 and then would be a free agent?

Wow!

To think, Terrell Owens was training to make a return at the age of 41-42 and Calvin Johnson is retiring at 30.

He's definitely lost a step and had his share of injuries. Other things are more important. Not a knock on him at all, but it just makes me really appreciate some of the all time great who did it for so many years.

Good for him. Go enjoy your money and family. I would do the same if I was blessed like him.

So fricking stupid. Could easily go down as a top 5 WR if he just played a couple more years. Not like his body is beat up

If you are retiring at 30, you don't care about this at all.

Damn. He was one of my favorite pro players to watch.

Kinda sucks that he's hanging it up so early, but I can't really blame the guy looking out for himself.

Detroit sure knows how to make superstars in their prime retire.
