Taxes are too high, no need to make shite up to try to make your point. Just makes you less credible

Taxes are paid based on where they play that week as well. If he drives his car, he's paying gas tax, sales tax ect ect.

Taxes are paid based on service days in a certain location

I don't do taxes thank everything, but the amount of my blue collar friends that don't understand nexus is comical. Hell, a lot of the time you end up paying taxes to both states as the credit may not cover your entire burden.

My understanding is duty days are game days, but do they include practice as well? I never handled this stuff when I worked for the state, and I'm not involved with the PE fund that purchased a portion of the Dolphins

You should have and Alabama will come after your for those taxes if they find out. I'm guessing you were a 1099 contractor and didn't have taxes automatically withheld from your checks?

Pro athletes state income taxes gets complicated. Purdy won't pay California income taxes on his full salary. They'll divide his annual salary by 17 games and then he'll pay state income taxes to each state the 49ers played a game in that year. So he'll owe California state income tax for 9 games worth and owe Louisiana state tax for 1 game for example.

NBA, NHL, and MLB players are even more complicated because they play so many more games, which means they probably played games in every state that has a team in those leagues....plus having to deal with Canadian taxes on top of that.

quote:

Duty days are the days during a professional season that an athlete is required to perform services for their team.

Examples: This includes not only game days but also practice days, days spent at team meetings, travel days (if they involve team-related activities), participation in instructional leagues or All-Star games, and even days on the disabled list. Purpose: The concept of duty days is used to determine the portion of an athlete's income that is subject to state and local taxes in states where they work but don't reside. This is commonly referred to as the "jock tax".

Companies make these kinds of mistakes all the time. It’s not as bad after Covid and the workplace being much more mobile but still happens

Unfortunately he does since he lives in California.

When he plays against the Saints, he will deduct what he has to pay the state of Louisiana, but when he plays @Bucs there in no deduction for him from Florida. The smart thing for him to do is establish residency in another state.

Way oversimplified. You only get thrown in jail if you engage in fraud. lmao.

If you transpose a number, you aren't going to prison. The government wants your tax money and not to imprison you for harmless error.
