Brian Windhorst of ESPN said there is "an appetite" around the NBA for Harden landing a four-year contract worth more than $200 million. A non-Sixers team could pay Harden $201.7 million over four years.

The Sixers can only offer Harden $210.1 million over four years due to the NBA's rules governing contracts for players age 38 and older. In that sense, the CBA limits the Sixers' leverage and sets up Harden to more seriously consider outside suitors than he might otherwise.

A return to the Houston Rockets has been regularly mentioned. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Rockets intend to pursue a reunion, and it's a "very real possibility" Harden returns.

Harden's continued wilting when the lights are brightest and his general decline as a player makes it a bit of a surprise teams would be willing to fork over $50 million annually. That said, the Sixers don't have much of a choice. They have no avenue to replace Harden if he walks, and the Rockets' interest is going to drive the price past the point of his actual market value.

Any team that does that will not regret it at all. Very wise financial decision.

translation: Hardin's agent paid BW to put out this piece as a desperate attempt to get hardin's value up.

Fertitta needs to save his $200M and apply it towards the Coyotes when they go on the block.

So the author is calling out Brian as a paid stooge of the Harden camp.

It would be great for this board for HardWn to be back in Clutch City though.

Why would Houston pay him that? As a goodwill gesture from his glory days?

Are teams that desperate to reach the cap floor? Hardens proved who he is over and over again:”; a transcendent regular season scoring talent that utilizes the refs prodigiously during the regular season and a post season player capable of taking over a game but one that is simply unwilling to carry a team now.

Since entering the NBA has won more games than any other player (sorry Bron, Steph, KD, russ, etc). Just came off a great season leading the league in assists and shot nearly 40% from 3. Finished 5th on the esteemed BBall ref mvp tracker. Obviously still a lot left in the tank. Definitely a max level player for the next couple of seasons and 75% of max in the next two.

Don’t care about none of that. I’ve watched this dude not show up when it matters time and time again.

He’s a great regular season player when the refs call the game much more tightly, but what were his playoff numbers, particularly against the Celtics?

What are his playoff numbers overall, particularly the past 5 years? Is it $50 Million/year type performance and production?

A great regular season player. No doubt. But when it matters most ANY team he has been on has failed… those are just the facts. Any owner would be stupid to give him that kind of money.

He was better in that series than his own teammate Embiid who won the MVP. When you got the mvp who isn’t even the best player on his own team, good chance you are in trouble.

He had 2 games that brought his PPG average close to Embid. Where was he in games 5, 6, and 7?
Game 5: 4/8 total FGA, 17 points in 39 minutes
Game 6: 4/16 total FGA, 13 points in 43 minutes
Game 7: 3/11 total FGA, 9 points in just under 41 minutes.

In games 2 and 3 he was combined 5/28. He had 2 stellar games in this series. Out of 7!!!

I’m not saying embid was great, hell or was even good, but Harden doesn’t show up at ALL during the playoffs.

What a waste of money

Strippers will rejoice though. Hell they’ll probably relocate and come to wherever he lands
