His comment to Bilas about how he should have skipped his Duke years to become a lottery pick and the subsequent awkward silence had me rolling

I can't stand Bill Simmons, but I don't get why he should get any flack over this. He's a Celtics fan and they drafted a player he wanted/likes.

I don't know but I love Simmons. He's like your typical message board homer/armchair GM that just so happened to hit it big.

Simmons is fine on TV.

People hate 95% of TV personalities, though.

Sometimes he says some really off the wall stuff, but for the most part, I don't mind him.

No wonder he was pissed that the Heat got Napier.

It's not like he hides his fandom at all.

Some old antiquated idea that sports media personalities on TV should be impartial. Frick that.

He is a huge Boston homer, which can get a little annoying, but overall I think he is funny. He is good friends with Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla and they rag on him all the time on Adam Carolla's podcast.

I'm a big fan of Simmons, although his fandom can cause him to be annoying about certain topics. (He used to hate Peyton Manning so much, he was unreadable.) I like his style -- the pop culture references and the crazy deep analysis about stuff. He's made a niche for himself and God bless him. ESPN.com basically created Grantland for him.
