he's alright i guess. like the guy said upthread it's awesome how he's basically someone you could see posting on a message board somewhere except he made it big
just have to regard him as much, and not treat him like the best expert on basketball there is, and he's fine

See, people just don't get Latrell Sprewell. He was just tired of that voice and found the best way to make it stop back then.

I think simmons is ok, but i miss the simmons from 5 years ago. back in the mailbag days.

IMO it was way worse when Magic used to refer to the Lakers as "we" when he was supposed to be a studio analyst.

I think his book, which is fantastic outside of his homerism (which he has a right to with how massive that book is), gave him a bigger head and changed him

I know a guy who was in sports journalism on TV. Its kind of funny picturing a press box during a big game when a big score occurs. Apparently all the media guys will fist pump, jump up and down, etc...but not make one sound.

That group just didn't work well with Sage IMO. When Beadle hosted that one time it was so much more enjoyable and fun. It's just so much tougher than the TNT show to make entertaining. Inside the NBA definitely has much better chemistry and funnier analysts, but they are also allowed to talk about their point for more than 30 seconds before they have to let one of the other people talk. It just seems like the ESPN show is set up to fail.

Don't get me wrong, I miss Bill Simmons the Red Sox homer. I'm just not as big a fan of basketball as I am baseball, and it was obvious Bill enjoyed NBA more than MLB. Let's be honest too, the dude was one of the first bloggers to make it to the big stage, of course he has a big head. Sage Steel really does not like him at all, and their chemistry sucks. You can never tell if Tirico dislikes his cohorts, and that's how it's supposed to be.

You could feel Jay Bilas' distaste for him... He kept trying to crack lame jokes and Bilas would just ignore him
