Biggest Super Bowl Heartbreak of All Time?

In your opinion, what Super Bowl loss was the biggest heartbreak of all time for the losing team and its fans? There are a few that immediately come to my mind. Scott Norwood going wide right for the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV. The Atlanta Falcons epic collapse (although awesome to us Saints fans) in Super Bowl LI. The Seahawks refusing to run the ball on the 1 yard line with Marshawn Lynch and throwing the game-sealing interception in Super Bowl XLIX.
To me, the Seahawks loss to the Patriots has to sting the most for their fans. You had one of the most bruising, tackle-busting running backs of all time on THE ONE YARD LINE and you pass the ball?? I’m not a Seahawks fan, but that would be a huge thorn in my side if I were, knowing how close my team was to winning back to back Super Bowls.
So, what is your choice for biggest Super Bowl heartbreak?

do you know what website you're on? You might as well just ask the 2nd biggest.

Pretty sure the Titans lost a super bowl to the Rams where the guy got tackled at the 1 yard line to lose the game as time ran out. That has to be it

Its 28-3. Seahawks/Pats was a bad playcall but it loses points because they won the SB the year before. It hurts a lot more when you haven't won before

I discount the Seahawks one because they won the year before.
The Bills one is extra rough because they were right there...and even though they went to the next 3 super bowls...they were never that close again.
The Falcons one is just hilarious

28-3 not even close
Seahawks was one stupid decision plus they won year before, whereas 28-3 was nearly a half of bad decisions plus Brady GOATing.
People also retrospectively shrink the distance between where Titans receiver was tackled and the goal line as the years go by. It was more than a yard but the pictures were after he rolled over a bit and the game was over. Plus that was for the tie not the win so OT was still coming.

I would think that Patriots fans loathe hearing about that time Eli and the Giants took down their undefeated juggernaut. Obviously it would hurt more if they hadn't already won multiple Super Bowls. The Atlanta 28-3 debacle has to be the all-time Super Bowl choke job.

Three came to mind immediately:
1. 28-3. This will never be topped.
2. Bills losing in 1990. The other three losses afterwards were to better teams. In 1990, Buffalo was better than the Giants.
3. Rams losing in 2001. They had just won two years before, so the heartbreak probably wasn't as bad, but to watch your dynasty in the making go up in smoke in one of the all time great playoff upsets because they wouldn't give the ball to Marshall Faulk had to suck.
Honorable mention: 1999 Titans coming up one yard short. That was brutal for them.

Super Bowl III broke not only Colts fans, but it broke all the NFL purists and partisans. And it broke the owner so much that he let Shula go to Miami and the rest is history.

On the season, Lynch had scored just once on his five attempts from his opponent's 1-yard line. From 2010 to 2014, he scored 45 percent of the time, ranking 30th out of 39 running backs.

That's just wrong. His shoulder pad lands roughly between the 1 and 1.5 yard line, and his arm is extended (and he has long arms). So he was basically half a yard-ish from the EZ. If anything, you are retroactively expanding the distance. Sure, it's not like he was mere inches from scoring, but he was damn close, especially for the final play of a Superbowl.
These are all pictures from literally the spot he was tackled:
And the play itself:

As a fan, I'll go with all 3 Bengals losses. All close games till the end.

I get that, but it kept the Seahawks from having a dynasty and from being thought of as one of the greatest teams of all time. Not being able to repeat as champions has gotta sting pretty bad.
Also, 28-3 is no doubt the biggest choke of all time. It’s not heartbreaking at all to us Saints fans, therefore I have no sympathy for ATL. Meanwhile, I do feel for the Titans, Bills, and Seahawks in their losses.

It was right at a yard out.

Mike Martz has to be the stupidest offensive "genius" of all time.

It would be up there, for sure, if the Titans actually had any fans.

Absolutely. As an Auburn fan I can't imagine the utter heartbreak I would have experienced in 2013 if we had not won the one 2010.
