I don’t understand why the rule being implemented after they declared holds any weight. So what?

Because the NCAA rule change that is behind all of this started with the fall 2022 guys.

A nice lesson for these guys to learn... "life isn't fair"! Sucks for the 2022 guys like it did for the 2020 Seniors who had their careers ended in a matter of minutes... at some point this nonsense has to stop.

Has more to do with the level of coaching dropping off in the sec. Michigan and Tosu weren’t losing players to LSU bama and others because they wouldn’t pay up because it wasn’t allowed. If you are a conference that has members that did what big10 schools have done why would you be above paying g players illegally?
Did NIL disperse players more? Yes it did but could just reflect other conferences joining in on paying guys instead of just the big 10, sec and a school here there like Miami that would do it.
The expanded payoff is going to produce different results than a plus 1 just based on games and such and likely leads to an advantage for the top heavy league.
Michigan wins a title by blatant cheating. Yall won a title based off getting hot at the right time, Oregon having no clue how to prepare for a layoff/ Lanning just not having the chops to win the biggest games.
Indiana had a regular season of no one’s and just had to prepare to beat yall then ran rough shod on people.
So it’s a combination of slight coach decline in the sec, qb decline as well as the last few years we haven’t had good qb play. Also UGA lost in yalls title year because they lost their qb so ND got to play a handicapped team.
The real game changer was the sec had more schools take sports seriously and invest in it, the talent level of coaches went up along with being willing to pay. Eventually other conferences would have to win games at some point.

Yall also added Oregon to the mix who was o end the teams willing to pay up, which is how they dominated and broke the pac12.
Yes the B1G has 3 straight titles but as noted and pushed I believe pretty far by the buckeye fanbase Michigan cheated in that year. Yall have won titles before the sec made its run and even during it. Indiana is the only real game changer and they did it via NIL and the right coach hire and with paying vet players. Indiana had no interest in paying players.
Aggy was paying players back in the SWC and paying big time, SMU the same, Oklahoma and Nebraska both paying players before their conference moves. Texas was paying along with LSU, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, UGA and Auburn.
The sec run from 03 - 22 which does have titles from TOSU, FSU and Clemson in it shows we have plenty of seasons where we lost games. shite FSU and TOSu won back to back while we were dominating it’s not like we won 25 straight as a conference. We had better coaches and the right talent we paid, just like TOSu and others paid for as well.
It’s also college football and eventually coaches adapt and programs adapt to win, you have some coaches that were great and then fall off because they don’t respond to the changes.
The SEC will be back to winning more titles, will it have a run like it did? Probably not, I’d expect it stays highly competitive with the blue blood and tier 1 programs winning and up starts like Indiana winning.
