given the Manning history it's doubtful.

I think that's a little oversold.

Cooper and Peyton were getting recruited during the heart of the Curley Hallman Era. Are we really knocking them for passing up the chance to get coached up by him?

Newman used to be either a 1A or 2A team before the reclassification and the 1A/2A pickings in NOLAis not all that impressive. I always wondered how Peyton and Eli would have fared if they went to Jesuit, HC, Bro.Martin or even Curtis which would face high level competition week in and out.

Going to Newman was definitely an advantage early in that they did not get beat up.

In my opinion the Mannings, never, ever really considered LSU but given how Archie was employed as a saints announcer and commercial pitchman for many Louisiana companies they had to at least give the impression that they were considering LSU.

Hallman coud recruit though, but his shortcomings are well-noted.

The Saints would probably give out a bonus for having open disdain for LSU.

And Kentucky will still never beat him.

There ain’t enough cocaine or adderall in Slidell for ANYONE to be able to come to the conclusion that one particular freshman is the best

How the hell do they vote on that?

Part of the reason we didn’t get Peyton was that we signed Josh Booty, who was about equally heralded coming out of HS.

Then he fricked us for the next decade by signing a baseball contract and looming over the team as always coming to play QB next year. Hard to sign a QB when there is a possibility an all-world one will show up and displace him.

Peyton won 4 or 5 league MVP awards and Eli was two time Super Bowl MVP, so I think they would have done just fine against the vaunted competition of the Catholic league.

So wait, you're telling me that a 15 year old kid isn't throwing dudes open and shredding zone coverage like it his uncle P yet? Pack it in, boys. The next 3 years of playing for Newman won't help a thing.

I think he's trying to pull some Malcolm Gladwell bullshite with the theory that feasting on lower competition with their talent both supercharged their confidence and saved them from taking more hits that could have softened them up before moving on to college.

Way easier to do as an athlete than a pocket passer in HS

I'd say getting 4 years as a starter in high school (as they got and Arch will get), was a good thing for them.

Not that any three wouldn't be able to start for Jesuit and do just as well in the long run. They just might not let it happen Freshman year there.

That's why its a Freshman POTY... I am sure every QB who wins it every year has a lot of learning to do..

Yes. And the dude is gonna be under a ton of pressure from here in out. I hope he does well but it will be brutal for him to preform.

Peyton did not start until his sophomore year.

No he didn't. He only started 6 games his junior season and they lost to Carencro in the round of 16.

Yes. Sauces say he is the best of them all. If that's true, I really would like to think LSU is at the top of the list. No way he goes to Tennessee. And who the hell would want to go to Ole Miss now?
