Confession: I was born in Texas and grew up a Cowboys fan. Late 80s early 90s was a great time, what can I say.

Moved to New Orleans in 94. First Saints game was against the Steve Young 9ers on MNF. Saints got killed. But slowly but surely I found myself converting.

It’s like a penance living in this city. I watched some bad Saints football over the years as I got into High School. I watched the River City Relay elated only for Carney to shank the XP hung over as shite.

But that Super Bowl season was so awesome.

I guess technically in football and basketball since I’ve been a Saints and Pelicans season ticket holder so I pull for the teams my money goes towards over my hometown Knicks and Football Giants. I still pull for them secondarily and want to see them succeed, but Saints and Pelicans first for football and basketball.

I am a lifelong Oilers/Astros/Rockets and Boston Bruins fan. Live in TN but when the Oilers closed up shop in Houston I never became a Titans or Texans fan. I now cheer for Buffalo only because I had a cousin play for them years ago.

is it true that you either root for those four teams or the Jets, Mets, Islanders and Nets? Like they're all combined with one another?

Not 100% across the board, but yes those 4 and the other 4 tend to be tied together through fandom.

I did. Born in Atlanta, love the Braves and Georgia Tech - will never not. Moved to South Florida years ago and switched to the Dolphins.

Falcons and Dolphins suck, so pretty much misery either way.

Yes, grew up a Packers fan cause my Dad was a fan of them when they had Jimmy Taylor and before the Saints came along, so I was a Packer fan to.

I eventually switched to being a Saints fan for many and varied reasons but I do still like Green Bay.

Man, I was going to write almost these exact words. Thanks!

Cue the Euro soccer snobs calling every American a casual… like if you root for some shitty third division team in London you can’t root for a Tottenham or Arsenal to win a European Final

No
Nobody has ever done this

Everybody ever moves to the Tampa Bay Area, but nobody has ever made the switch. Ever. They also raise their kids to be Boston, NY, Pittsburgh, etc fans.

A St Louis Browns fan? Dang, that's hardcore. Maybe the worst franchise in MLB history.

But they beat the Yankees to win the AL in 1944 and faced the crosstown rival Cardinals in the WS.

They actually had a shot to win the pennant in 1922, but ran into the Yankees. Just imagine how baseball history in STL would've turned out had they played in and won the WS first before the Cardinals did 4 years later.

I stopped caring about the nfl when the Oilers left town

This was me also, no matter how hard I tried. The Oilers were my only team from the time I was old enough to know what football was. Absolutely killed me when they closed up shop. I only will say I kind of like Buffalo because my cousin played there but I’ll die an Oiler fan and quit watching the NFL years ago.

I never have. And never will. It's just too foreign to me to care about other markets I've never cared about before.

Careful there slick. You must not have been around during the Saints bag head days.
