Anybody else losing interest in football as a sport?

Compared to when I was a young man, absolutely. I really noticed the diminished interest took hold during COVID and after.

Yes it is a house of cards with the price of players going up 40%-50% every year. You can only go to the well so many times before boosters are out. Once complaciency sets in then its really hard to get people excited again. I say this as a fan of 1 of about 5 teams that have improved their stock in the NIL era. (Indiana, Miami, Ole miss, TT and SMU).

Something needs to change but no one knows how to do it. I think the SEC and B1G would like to make conference rules and have them enforceable. That was the whole pro players thing. The SEC trying to prove in court that it can enforce its rules.

I am, if only because I'm older and have more priorities than I did in my 20s. Has nothing to do with the fact we suck and will never amount to anything, but it doesn't help.

You’re not required to watch all of them… I usually just watch the Saints and whoever is the Sunday night game

One of the reasons I’ve recently gravitated to NASCAR is due to how pure the competition is. Who can cross that finish line first, that’s it.

Beyond frustrating and just dumb when a 10 yard run is turned into a 10 yard penalty because a ref decides the receiver grabbed just a little too much jersey this time.

I’ve lost interest in college football. I use to keep up with high school recruiting and players and that went to different schools, etc. With the playoffs, NIL, constant transfers, less developed systems (everything has to be a dumbed down RPO because players don’t develop anymore), gambling, court hearings, etc. it’s insufferable.

I still watch in the background, but I just don’t care as much.

I’m still a Saints fan and watch my Saints games. But between international games, terrible calls, all the different streaming service special games, Thursday night football, over exposed athletes, and gambling…they’re making it hard on me.
