1 game playoff is perfect. It preserves the importance of winning your division while still giving a good number of teams a route to the World Series

Yeah, I love the wild card because MLB managed to shrink the playoffs by expanding the field. Winning your division matters again, as its a severe punishment to be the wild card team. During the Sox/Yankees heydey, they'd put the team up on blocks once they were in the postseason, unconcerned with who won the division title. Now, you gotta win the pennant.

Wild card teams should be treated like the second class postseason citizens they are, lucky recipients of a second chance.

I agree. It makes the regular season better because there are still very meaningful games being played right up to the final day. However, it doesn't penalize the teams who won their division. The WC is the play-in game. Don't like the format? Win your division. Otherwise, enjoy your opportunity to be in a postseason which you maybe shouldn't be in.

Great line in saying that the WC teams are "second class postseason citizens"

What about last year when the 98-win Pirates didn't even make it to the NLDS while the Mets were able to make it with 90 wins? How is it fair to punish the Pirates for playing in a much tougher division than the Mets? Or what about 2001 when the 102-win Oakland A's would have been forced to play the 85-win Twins for a spot in the ALDS because they had the terrible fortune of being in the same division as the 116-win Mariners?

I think a format like the ncaa regional final day would be awesome. WC 1 has to beat WC 2 once, WC 2 has to beat WC 1 twice. Those games could still be played over the same amount of days with the possibility of 2 games each day (AL & NL). Keeps importance of winning division and even adds more incentive to earn WC 1 instead of 2

MLB shouldn't try to get cute. Keep it simple. 2 leagues. No divisions. No interleague play. Top 4 teams in each league make the playoffs. Best MLB record gets home field advantage in the World Series.

That's a pretty good idea. Better than the current method.

One game wild cards are awesome, more teams get post season experience. Enhances Ddivision races(sucks we had none this year), gives you instant game 7 atmosphere to start playoffs.

This was what MLB wanted, teams cried after the Cardinals and others won the WS from the wild card spot.

they see this as harder for WC teams, because they will have to use their pens, and possibly heavily to win the 1 game.

The Goal was to soften the WC team up before they play the #1 seed. Make it harder for WC team to be ready to play a series after putting so much into a 1 game playoff.

It is what it is.

And particularly importantly keeps the drama going for more teams down the stretch. It's fun to have your team in the running for a playoff spot, even if it is a one game winner take all. Those late season Cubs games last year (the SF series is a great example) were electric.

The National League team with the best regular season record has not won the World Series since the Mets in 1986.

One-game series are the tits.

Divisional winners get to rest.

I wish every WC2 was tied with a WC2 so we get a pre-WC one-game play-in game.

Playoff baseball is the best baseball. I wish there was more of it.

I know they will never go 8 and 8 on each side but it would make for some fun. Plus more money from owners and tv ads
