I know y’all laugh and celebrate this because she is a retard politically, but man I can’t help but feel bad for her. The punishment is far excess of the crime here.

There’s a difference in learning a lesson by being served a big dose of reality, and spending years trying to survive in a Siberian Gulag.

Politics aside, she’s a disgusting and deeply flawed person. She was destined to fade into obscurity end up living in a rundown trailer outside of Waco somewhere.

She doesn’t deserve a Russian work camp, and we won’t deserve all her accolades, press tours, books, and movies we’ll be subjected to once she’s released.

Our prison system of cells and sitting in the yard doesnt seem to be working.

We need to go back to a forced work model of prisons. Not gulag style but at least some semblance of hard work for no pay.

Maybe that would be more of a crime deterrent.

Bro, do you even know anything about incarceration?

Punishment fits the crime in Russia. Don’t bring drugs into places where they are illegal.

IDK here

On one hand she broke a law and deserves to be punished to a certain extent

On the other hand labor camps are basically slave labor with a different name. I don't think anyone deserves this kind of treatment especially if they only used drugs.

Hopefully she realizes how terrible other countries are and how lucky she was to be in America.

So how did people feel when Aaron Rodgers was fined because he lied about his vaccination status? Punishment fit the crime, right? No matter how stupid the law was.

Packers/NFL aren’t the gov so they can make silly rules.

Sorry she thought she was entitled to violate another countries rules because she thought the rule was stupid.

When you travel for personal or business you should know that laws of where you are going, rather it be drugs or guns.

I'm not debating private versus government.

My point is that the "shouldn't break the rules" argument only comes into play on here when people don't like the person that is affected.

I stopped following for a while.

Was there ever an admittance that the contraband was hers or is she still confused on how it got in her bag?

There's no way in hell you can compare Brittney Griner to Nelson Mandela

Griner played in Russia for nearly a decade in the WNBA off-season. It wasn’t a coincidence that she brought the vapes with her. She did before & didn’t think anything of it this time.

Are you saying people should spend a decade in a Gulag for having hash oil? Because that is essentially what that statement means and kind of implies you feel the punishment in Russia is more fitting than it would be in America.

Putin is making an example out of her and showing how weak Biden is.

She doesn't deserve this type of punishment but then again, she hates America. I bet she may be regretting those comments now.

Have you seen the extent to which some will go to prop up whomever they opt to hero worship?

People have compared Farrakhan to Jesus. It can get ridiculous. So Mandela is not out of the question here.

Anyone who celebrates this need to really look at themselves. This is a harsh punishment by any reasonable metric.

Did she bring it on herself? Absolutely. Does she "deserve" the penalty she received here? No. Is there anything anyone here can do about this? Not really. Are Russian politics part of this? I have no doubt.

My opinion, for the very little it is worth, is that no one should be celebrating her being in a Gulag. And no one should be holding her up as some sort of hero or the victim of American racism in this circumstance.

She is the victim of her own unfortunate lack of awareness, which was possibly compounded by a certain entitlement sports figures seem to get in the US.
