It's a theme

UGA fans say the same thing about 2002

The computers are definitely not the end all be all. The original BCS system put way too much emphasis on the computers. We were watching a 2 am Hawaii game on the final day of the season to see if LSU would get in over USC in 2003.

I assume you mean Notre Dame vs. Ohio State (both were undefeated)?

Also, you forgot one:

2009: Alabama vs. Cincinnati

i always love this response, its like people think the computer models aren't programed by a person. In the case of these formula's we have no idea what data was used since the formula's were proprietary so zero accountability.

As a side note i wonder how many fans on the rant that make this argument also vociferously argued against the computer models used by the CDC and other agencies to enact the coronavirus shutdowns?

Potentially USC, but a lot won’t give Auburn a chance and they should.

Did you watch the Sugar Bowl?

Auburn had 299 total yards and 2 turnovers against VaTech and won by 3 points.

USC had 525 yards total yards and 5 turnover recoveries against the #2 in the country.

And the 2008 game everyone wanted to see is Florida/USC OP...not Florida/Texas.

Wasn’t OSU on probation? Wasn’t that why they couldn’t play in that game?

We were so close to one of the worst championship games of all time. Florida could have named their score against that Bearcat team in the Sugar bowl.

Not saying it wouldn’t have been ugly, but Kelly stays at least thru the BCS if they made it

I would have really loved to have seen 2008 USC vs Florida. 2008 USC is probably one of the most sick nasty defenses in modern CFB.

If LSU couldn't beat, let alone score against, the team that didn't deserve to be there, how could they have beaten the more deserving team?

This was incredibly overlooked in the BCS era. Washington got screwed, not Miami.

Should've been. Oregon proved that by hammering CU in the Fiesta Bowl.

Unfortunately for Washington and Oregon, the human polls and computers didn't value the Pac 10 much then, so there wasn't much of argument made on their behalf. Funny how the computers kept out USC a couple years later, and suddenly the whole system was considered broken.

+1 . Nobody ever mentions Washington that year. It’s always how Miami got screwed because they beat FSU. The Huskies only loss was to 10-2 Oregon in Autzen.

Miami did beat #1 (at the time FSU) and got by top 5 VaTech. But if you want to support the cause of the Canes getting in with a loss, make sure there isn’t another 1-loss team that beat them.

On a side note, how the hell did Georgia get beat that badly by a Tennessee team that was 2-2 with a trash defense?

2008 USC was really good, but they were still #5 in the BCS. The debate was always between Texas and Oklahoma. UT won the head to head and had a last second loss in Lubbock. That year Tech finished the regular season 11-1.

USC had a Thursday night egg against a good, but not great, Oregon State team.

There’s no comparison in the resumes.

LSU would have blown out OSU and 2011 LSU would have had the best season in college football history instead of 2019 LSU because Miles would have kept his job much longer.

Already was one of the best ever. Still is the greatest defense in the history of CFB.

Not sure it would have changed CLM’s trajectory: most of us were over that farce and more concerned that he had started regularly losing to OM, Arky, and even State
