2001: Miami vs. Colorado
2003: LSU vs. USC
2004: USC vs. Auburn
2006: Ohio State vs. Michigan
2007: Ohio State vs. Georgia
2008: Florida vs. Texas
2011: LSU vs. Oklahoma State
2012: Alabama vs. Ohio State

1998, Tenn.
2000, Miami.
2001, should be Miami/Oregon. Miami rolls.
2003, not getting involved in that debate.
2004, SC.
2006, OSU.
2007, UGA.
2008, should be SC/Florida. Florida.
2011, LSU.
2012, Bama.

Edit: missed 2004.

LSU would have blown out OSU and 2011 LSU would have had the best season in college football history instead of 2019 LSU because Miles would have kept his job much longer.

Oklahoma State had 5 drafted players on their entire roster. Only Justin Blackmon is still under contract. It might have gotten ugly

Potentially USC, but a lot won’t give Auburn a chance and they should.

#1 defense in the country with a loaded offense. The real question would be, how conservative would the offense be? Auburn displayed a tendency to go into a shell with play calling.

Agreed two undefeated teams

Bama would have rolled that OSU team though

Alabama would have jumped either ND or Ohio State after that big win over Georgia. The SEC was too strong that season. I think the media would be hungry for Saban vs Meyer in 2012.

Just how shitty was the old BCS system before they updated it in 2005.

Oregon was #2 in the final AP and Coaches Polls and was #4 in the BCS.

It just means the human voters overrated them, which is why you have computer rankings.

The media didn't have much control over the BCS. I think it would've been OSU vs ND, and I think ND would've won. That OSU team had lots of struggle wins. I'm not even sure they win a hypothetical B1G championship matchup with Nebraska.

That OSU team wasn't all that great. They played a bad schedule and just didn't have the extra gear or three that his later OSU teams had - 1 point win against a 7 - 6 MSU team, OT win against Purdue at home, OT win against unranked Wisconsin, bit of a squeaker against an 8 - 5 Michigan, etc. That team might not have gotten in even if they had been eligible.

Urban didn't really get that machine rolling until the second half of 2014.

Edit: Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but that 2012 Oregon team was probably the team with the best shot of upending Alabama that year.

I’ve been trying to tell other LSU fans this for years but If the later formula was used in 2003 the title game would have been LSU-USC and there would have ZERO controversy. All those that go to the mattresses over OUs SOS would never argue for them in that scenario.
