My dislike of Simone Biles is due to how she quit on her team in Tokyo to focus on her "mental health" but then suddenly felt better and came back when her team carried on and performed well without her

The only thing I disliked about this saga is that when Suni stepped up and won gold people acted like it was by default to some extent. I understand the idea behind that, but if you can't hack it mentally, you can't hack it.

This isn't an ADA reasonable accommodation discussion, it's elite athletics and if you don't have the complete package you're not the best (at least at that time).

Not really fair to hold it against Biles, but I admit I did a bit.

It’s the epitome of obese couch potatoes criticizing world class athletes and telling them how they should react. It’s hilarious.

Situation is different. Simone had already beaten her in 3 other events to take gold in Paris.

McKayla was a one trick pony that lost her event.

Dude she was competing in the Olympics but was struggling - then dropped out to focus on her mental health. However, the team was doing well without her and Simone Biles was an afterthought - but then she suddenly felt great and came back.

For that reason, I didn't buy the mental health excuse. She quit when things weren't going great but rejoined when the spotlight wasn't on her any more and she wasn't apart of a winning team.

She gets a pass for being soft. Don't you know?

This is the excuse Biles fans always spout. But have we ever heard of aomeone dying from the dreaded twisties? Getting hurt, sure. But the excuse is always that she could have died.

An American. Everyone noticed she was a little off and kept pushing her to train for Tokyo. She slipped on the spring board, went head first into the vault, became a quadriplegic, and was eventually removed off life support. It takes 5 seconds to google this kind of stuff

This board hating on Biles has always made me laugh. A bunch of out of shape, 30-50 year olds screaming she needs to compete when she has already won gold medals for our country.

I really hate how people say Biles quit to focus on her mental health like it was a bad thing. The girl had the yips. In golf, you slice the ball or miss a gimme putt. In gymnastics, that shite can be fatal.
How many times is this nonsense excuse going to be posted here

I don’t think this word means what you think it means.

Just because you don’t understand something, it doesn’t mean it’s nonsense

man what are talking about tho, we talking about some chick who made a face after not winning, somehow she's the face of determination now compared to some other chick who has won multiple golds who supposedly doesn't have that grit in her?

This place hates a winner. Of course they would hate on the GOAT gymnast. Look how they treat National Champion winning coaches at LSU…Miles, O, CPM.

It’s funny actually

Keep in mind the vault was her event. She was the best in the world and dominated every other competition.

Her vault in the Team Final was so ridiculous.

I gotta love how despite the fact that she is the most decorated women's gymnast in history, this board still MUST find a way to hate on her. Impressive really.

Give me a competitor like Maroney anyday over somebody happy to be 2nd or 3rd.

So you'd rather the person with 1 gold and 1 silver at the Olympics, over the person who has won 7 golds, and 2 silvers at the Olympics? Pretty interesting method you have there.
