That's fine but schools and, more importantly, the LHSAA have to pay bills.

They are also trying to make it the best atmosphere possible for both teams by having a DJ, a band, food trucks, etc.

DJ Pauly D in the house.

Am I the only one that thinks that having a state championship in your own hometown is actually a good/cool thing (as long as the logistics allows it to work out - parking, seating, concessions, etc)? High school football should feel like high school football, not some cheap arse DIII college game - which is often the impression I’m left with at the dome (applies mostly to the smaller classifications)

before they played in dome...

1980 ESJ / Barbe at MCneese(in foul weather) was epic
1979 St Aug / NISH at USL... see above
1977 Bonnabel at South Lafourche.... epic...
1978 kinder/st louis... epic.....

DLS & STM kids really getting screwed here

This is what STM wanted, and has the right to do, based on the current rule.

It is telling that they are the only one of the four to not choose a neutral site.

I doubt they have the logistics to handle the champ game on short notice, but here we are.

I find it hysterical that the small schools could still figure out a way to play in the dome.

STM is in the best position of any of the selects to host on campus. They have a really nice stadium and a ton of land all around it for festivities before the game. That place is going to be a lot of fun pregame. They go all out for regular season games; they are going to go nuts for this one.

This, and I don't really agree with allowing sTm to play at home. But it is what it is. I do remember years ago, before the split, sTm hosted Acadiana in the semi finals and that place was a mad house. There was plenty of room for the people that were there. The sidelines, track and endzone were filled with people. sTm even brought in bleachers for the endzone. That was an amazing game. Acadiana whooped that arse, but I had no dog in the fight.

If Notre Dame would have advanced, Cajun Field could have made it work for a three game event with STM and Lafayette Christian.

I coached in the dome and there's nothing like it.

But I think it's cool that college stadiums get in the mix too.

Wish they could hold semis at the closest college stadium and finals in the Dome, but that'll never happen.

Yeah, but the Superdome is the Superdome. Aint a kid alive who wouldn't rather play in the same building as the Super Bowl

I agree. That's why I said 1/2 empty "college stadium"
Most of the kids and coaches have the mentality that if it's not in the dome they would rather have it at home. STM already played in Yulman once this year and Cajun Field isn't anything special to kids from Lafayette.

That’s my point. People can say what they want about the dome and it’s history, but sometimes the place seems pretty damn empty for some (most) of the games... give me a GREAT atmosphere at a smallish venue over the corporate, empty-feeling dome anyday

That’s just one man’s opinion though

Wait that's this year? Aren't they all already scheduled for the dome or are they being scheduled the week of?

Honestly it will be nice playing outside at Tulane Stadium
It will look more like a high school setting as majority of stadium will be filled
Superdome is way too big to host high school games

that and playing at a different site, you can make your own schedule as opposed to the LHSAA/Super Dome making you play at 11am in the middle of the week.

What’s hysterical? Any of the select championships could have had a noon kickoff on Friday in the dome. That’s the reason they decided to pursue options outside of the dome.

Does not matter what grounds one may or may not have

The argument is that DLS is getting screwed out of any opportunity to play the championship game on a D1 or NFL field.

Surely, DLS would not have acquiesced to such an arrangement if they had known that the remaining 3 select championship games were to be held at such esteemed locations.
