Props to ocs coach for not giving up. You can’t tell me that any of those kids would rather play anywhere else but the super dome.

yeah... DLS & STM kids really getting screwed here b/c not only are they not playing in the Dome... they don't even get to play on a college campus

it'll be a regular home game for STM

granted... I'm guessing Rummel's already played at Yulman at some point this season... so that will be nothing new to them

That sucks for those kids. Especially De La Salle who FINALLY makes it to the final

St Charles Catholic has made it to the state championship game several times before.

Lafayette Christian is the new poster child for a school whose main purpose is to build winning athletic teams. Schools like this are the reason there is a split.

This might be a stupid question, but I wonder what effect all of this will have on the school choices of a lot of families of future athletes...?

The Division IV game will be played as part of the Prep Sugar Bowl Classic in the Superdome with the 5 non-select championship games... and thus will not be played this week

That game will be played on Fri. 12/13

re: 4 Select State Football Championship Games; 4 Different Host Sites
STM wanted it on their campus. They said it on the broadcast. That is unfair to the visiting team because their stadium really doesn't accommodate a large amount of visiting fans. These should have been required to play at a neutral site. It is really a breakdown of all sides, the selects, LHSAA and whoever allowed STM to do this.

Am I the only one that thinks that having a state championship in your own hometown is actually a good/cool thing (as long as the logistics allows it to work out - parking, seating, concessions, etc)? High school football should feel like high school football, not some cheap arse DIII college game - which is often the impression I’m left with at the dome (applies mostly to the smaller classifications)

I'm pretty sure STM is bringing in extra bleachers and is trying to accommodate as many fans as possible. They are also trying to make it the best atmosphere possible for both teams by having a DJ, a band, food trucks, etc.

And this is a direct quote from STM email...

quote:

STM will extend an invitation to the De La Salle fans to attend this "family festival-like" afternoon, so let's remember how excited their team must also be to reach the finals.

Exactly what my son said, he'd rather play in a packed HS stadium than a 1/2 empty college stadium.

Have you ever been to Yulman? And you think the Lafayette kids aren't excited to play at ULL?

And I would suggest everyone withhold judgement on how great the Superdome is until we see the financials after all the games are played.

Yeah, but the Superdome is the Superdome. Aint a kid alive who wouldn't rather play in the same building as the Super Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the BCS, the CFP, and heck, the Final Four. There's a lot of history in that building.

STM is in the best position of any of the selects to host on campus. They have a really nice stadium and a ton of land all around it for festivities before the game. That place is going to be a lot of fun pregame. They go all out for regular season games; they are going to go nuts for this one.

I'm glad everyone got what they wanted. Further proof that the selects are not even close to all being on the same page.
