The problem with playing in the dome is that the schools can’t afford it. I think playing in smaller local colleges is a great idea.

Nobody likes to talk about what the LHSAA pays to play in the Dome.
You know who else playing in the Dome screws over? Every other athlete in every other sport.

Seems to me that putting the word "Christian" in your school's name is a good way to deflect charges of cheating.
For a while, anyway.

LCA gets a lot of hate on this board. They have been in existence since the late 70s and are connected with a relatively large nondenominational church. They are k-12 school with growing enrollment who have had increasing success and emphasis on athletics.
Does anyone have a problem with LSU champions their athletic program? Let’s be honest LSU academics certainly plays second fiddle.
I can vouch firsthand that the learning environment at LCA is on par or better than the average Louisiana public school.

Wait so the high seed elects to play at home vs neutral? Is this only in Select?
Not surprising they’d be the ones to do it

Wonder if he will address why LCA has kids from Mamou, Welsh and Kaplan....on their roster.
Your post was spot on, and the poster didn’t address anything you stated.
LCA is a prime example of why we have a split. And I am a pro-select guy, bc I’m not a fan of the whole proposal when initiated by public schools for the 2013 season.

It is a private school and maybe that is where the parents and the kid chooses to go to school?

It is still a home game for the state championship. The is completely unfair to the visiting team. It doesn’t matter what festivities they are invited to or how many bleachers are moved in, it is a huge advantage for one team over the other.
It is like when the NFL tried to sell to the public that a game in NYC was a home game for the Saints when they played the Giants during the Katrina season. The Saints got to dress in the “home” locker room and they painted the endzones/made some half assed Saints decorations.

If they “choose” to go due to vouchers or financial aid, do you understand the issue with the public schools opinion on the split....especially since you stated the

LCA is what it is....take ownership of it and be proud of it. If schools want to beat y’all, give your best shot. But understand where the “hate” is coming from.

Because the LHSAA blows about 60% of its annual budget on the Prep Classic.
Now ask how much money they spent on the girls soccer state championship. Or on baseball/softball. Or why wrestling, which has like 10 teams from the North, has to do their state event in Bossier.

Every single person who goes to public school is receiving “financial aid.”
I understand the argument but the idea that schools that have generate revenue to operate should be bound to attendance zone is preposterous, and it’s especially preposterous the way the LHSAA does it.

Maybe, since they familiar with Kaplan, they can explain how kids that live in Abbeville, Crowley, and Gueydans' zone, go to Kaplan instead of the correct school they're zoned for?

I’m pretty sure this is the way it was done for years. It’s one of the perks of being seeded higher, don’t like it? Play harder next season.

No.
Playing football at the SuperDome where NFL pros play will be a highlight of the players lives given that very few of them will be good enough to make it to college football and and even fewer of them will actually play in the NFL.
They play five times a year on a high school field in the regular season and 2-3 more times on their own field in the playoffs.

High school football should feel like high school football, not some cheap arse DIII college game - which is often the impression I’m left with at the dome
You're looking at it from the fan's point of view, not the player's point of view.
Playing in the fancy SuperDome is a nice reward for the great season those players had.

Yeah, if the school doesn’t incur the cost. Truth be told it can cost the school thousands to play in the super dome for their “nice reward.” Honestly it isn’t worth it.
From ESPN's SportsCenter.
Not surprising.
