Very tough draw for a Division IV #9 seed.

Stunning #txhsbaseball news:
Just hours before its postseason began, Grapevine's season is over. A chance at a three-peat ends after it was discovered the Mustangs played an ineligible player.
The 5A favorites, and one of the top teams in the nation, are out.

Someone was sitting on that information all season, just to turn them in the day before the playoffs start

No clue what you're getting at. There are always locals considered for open HS coaching positions. I assume there will be some considered this go around, but what do I know.
I read it as strange just like ChalmetteOwl, but maybe in a different vain of thinking. WM baseball is one of the Top-5 baseball jobs in the entire state of Louisiana. WM football was also at one time one of the Top-5 jobs, it probably still is. But with what happened with WM football after the legend, WM had the whole quasi, “Michigan Man” or “locals only” mentality when it came to hires, and it not only did not work but set them back. When you are one of the Top-5 high school baseball coach/teaching jobs in the state at 5A school. Why limit the coaching pool, get the best you can no matter where they are from. Yes with high school baseball, feeder teams, local travel circuits and connections matter. But it’s WM if you get one of the best coaches from anywhere else they would not only understand those but of course tap into that which they would already be doing in today’s competitive LA high school baseball scene you have to.

Yea, the problem is that wasn't my point. I'm sure WM will consider all worthy HC candidates, regardless of where they are from. My comment was a simple reply to Tigerfoot who implied that any coach would choose WM over Neville. IF local coaches are in consideration that decision may not be as cut and dry due to how territorial and cliquey things are around here. And conversely, local administrators may not consider certain candidates for the same reason. That was all.

Glad you cleared that up, imo cliques exist at every school and program.
Do administrators actively recruit or just advertise and interview for coaches?

This has been very well known for a while by a lot of people. Lots of folks in baseball community here in DFW have been saying they were going to get popped but I didn’t believe it would actually happen. The bad actor in all of this is the father of a LSU commit. He has the means and network to bring in players from all over the place to play with his boys. There was even a newspaper article about it when the kids were playing 9u baseball and he’d fly players in on his dime from all over the world to play with his kids.

No Barbe's in D2 though.
confused?
are you saying because neville is not in Barbes division you think its the better job?
because barbe hasnt won it in 2 years.
Monroe metro is roughly the same size as LC metro and there is less competition up there for kids imo. Yea you have sterlington and neville but overall less compared to Sam Houston, Sulphur, St Louis, Westlake, Grand lake, South Beau, Iowa who all compete for state championships
WM has what...~200 more students in the school? literally no reason why they can not compete with barbe year in and year out. They have for close to a decade now. I do think they need a younger coach. They need a coach who understand how to use the weight room and the off season to truely develop, especially the baseball only kids.
WM has everything and i mean everything they need to compete with Barbe or even over take Barbe especially with the new freshman enrollment rule. Just need the right coach and dont go safe on it, go higher the best candidate. I dont care if its from out of state
a coach who understands the full program and modern development, the weight room, the imporatance of establishing a pipeline with the travel ball orgs. understand relationships with the travel orgs and how to get his kids into the big orgs in HS, not just using the pearson connection to put them with knights.

Absolutely. The one previously mentioned is actively being "recruited" by at least one of the schools in this discussion. If not both.

thats pretty common in the high level travel ball world but ironically it wasnt Javorisky that was the issue, it was one of the kids from South Texas.

I think WM has a good problem, and that is that football is very attractive. I know as ASH has become better we have kids that prior to Bachman would’ve been baseball only without a doubt, then we had some that play both…now we have really good baseball guys that have decided to play football only.
Our 2027 class was loaded and we have lost 4-5 to football only. That stings .
My son is one of a few that play both, but his best use in football is around 210-220 lbs. he needs to be 190-195 to play his best baseball. So he has a decision to make, keep in baseball shape and basically be a special teamer only, or bulk up for football and sacrifice baseball, not only Fall activities in baseball but the negatives of carrying that weight. Or he can stop playing football.
It is tough to do both at a high level at a big school. Yes there are gifted guys that can naturally excel at both, but that isn’t the majority

yep and this is where the multi sport guys miss the mark
sure the aaron judges of the world who are the best athletes can play all 3 but for the kid that is a good athlete but not exceptional, at some point he will need to choose IF HIS END GOAL IS TO PLAY AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL. it thats not the goal....enjoy the frick out of both and be a HS legend
but i have to ask...why is he better at 190-195 in baseball? for most, they are better the heavier they are
if its a speed thing, then its simply a strength thing, specifically static overcoming dynamic speed.
if you want to take it off line to talk about it lmk and ill give you my email because this really is a pretty easy fix

Big time upset. I just think it is a shame that they play one and done games when all other classes play best of 3. Ascension Catholic put it on St. Frederick pretty good as well 13-2. Ascension and CCA tonight at 8:30, late night game!
