St Louis started out the season very hot but towards the end of the season they tailed off. Not sure why because they are very talented. They just ran into a solid team of Notre Dame. Notre Dame is better than a 11 seed they played a really tough schedule this year.

yea for sure and I expected St Louis to get better as year went on getting some of the guys back from injuries. Heard it was a weird dynamic last month of season with so many seniors that do not play still on the team and them not caring but thats third hand info

but yea ND played great

as far as some talking about Barbe being a shoe in for the finals....bro I dont think many understand the draw they got. Its very very hard draw. Sure they have the talent to beat everyone but its not an easy draw

and the comment about winning close games, they are really good at it but they didnt have many this year. only had 4 and where 3-1 in those 1 run games. 4-0 in 2 run games.

but some of that is not throwing the main starters or playing young kids a lot to see how they handle it.

I will say having the freshman back at 3rd should help a lot. Kid can bang. But that also gives them 2 freshman in the line up and relying on 2 others on the bump in game 3 type situations possibly. Something to keep an eye on.

For clarification on my end, nobody said it would be easy for Barbe.

I said I can see them possibly dropping a game to a good pitcher/team now, but cannot see them losing a 3 game series.

I also said in a post back in February that they would dominate this year, you pushed back, you are entitled to your opinion as you often express. I would say that 37-1 with the one loss being by one run to an out of state elite team qualifies as a dominant season, but maybe I am just delusional.

To better answer your question, no, stat line shows smhs only scored 1 run. You wont win many games doing that and certainly wont have a great chance of winning that game without that AP kid catching/hitting. Had a fracture his back or something like that. I wonder if he is out for the season because if he is a series win in the olayoffs is an even bigger deal

no i actually agree with you, i was talking about another one that said they would not lose a game

and i only pushed back because i didnt expect JD to bounce back like this coming off the surgery. huge step up and the junior class is really top heavy and soph being really weak, but the freshman have stepped up big time too

plus i like tamp down expectations because some on here think if they dont go undefeated, win every game by run rule and have 5 P4 kids then they are declining lol

picked St Louis because they were very deep.

I’ve learned it really doesn’t take pitching depth. Early in the playoffs, most teams win in 2 games. 3rd if necessary, but then a full week of rest before the next series. With the playoffs spanning 5 weeks it’s top-line pitching that decides it, depth is rarely used (unfortunately).

4 good pitchers is all you need, the rest can even be below average.

Just read the article about it. 44 years is a long time.

Something about people calling for a younger person to be in charge.

I didn't read the article. Headline made it sound like he thought someone younger should be in charge. Not sure I fully agree with that. I don't know that an older coach couldn't be successful there. But the last 2 seasons the offense has plagued them. Last year's round 2 exit wasn't so bad. Losing to Sam Houston isn't embarrassing. The Destrehan loss this year stung a little bit more.

I agree not necessarily younger. Get the best baseball coach you can. Someone willing to put the work in and develop kids. Shouldn’t be hard to find someone great that wants the job. Great resources, facilities, and tradition.

That’s ashame. What he’s done for the WM baseball program is incredible. They have been consistently a top 5a program the last decade. WM is gonna realize that soon enough once the new coach doesn’t live up to expectations.

Boss informed me that ARCA and Loyola Prep are playing a doubleheader on the first night.

That's an interesting 4/5 matchup in D2 select.

If Teurlings Catholic beats Loranger in Game 1, looks like I'll be going there for Thursday.

I would like to see Loranger’s ace pitch. I love a hard throwing pitcher. Evan Vincent can bring it, too. He’s got a side arm/3/4 delivery that I like.
