Rummel won't use either of their top 2 arms but they swing the bats well. You're going to have to score some runs.

I’m thinking we’ll throw Zornes who beat Rummel last year…

Nugent who threw a shutout at Jesuit Thursday, could pitch for Rummel, though if I were them I’d save him for the playoffs

West Monroe 6/9/0
Ruston 5/6/0

WM wins the regular season finale in 10 innings. LA Tech commit Peyton Starr hit a HR and bat flipped. Next AB Ruston threw at his head. Pitcher and fan ejected. Commentator laughed.

Will be at Vermilion Catholic at Notre Dame Monday. The GPS took me some crazy way I've never been on the way home from Miller Stadium when I’ covered them against LCA.

It went by the Vermillion Parish charter school. That thing is huge. It just looms all of a sudden in the middle of nowhere. I came out right by Ascension Episcopal at the roundabout that’s near the Youngsville sports complex.

I’ll preface this by saying I hate the bat flips. BUT, the color guy for Ruston, the same one that was laughing at the kid when the pitch was thrown at his head, said he threw the bat 40 feet in the air. Just watched the video of the home run and he clearly did not throw it 40 feet in the air. The bat was flipped barely over his head.

Ruston people act so holier than thou, clutching their pearls.
HS kids do stupid things, even Ruston kids. Hell was it Hudson(may have been another kid I don’t remember) who was taunting the WM sideline this year in football and resulted in giving WM another chance to win the game?

That's dangerous, could have actually hit the kid and caused major head trauma or even killed the guy. Almost looks like assault with a deadly weapon.
There needs to be some legal action taken against that pitcher. Could have killed Peyton.

Looking at the replay posted, Peyton just flipped the bat a few feet in the air.

As far as the Ruston commentor laughing, that clown is a major POS. What if the kid would have been seriously injured?

To the Ruston pitcher and commentator

I have never heard a HS stream that wasn’t done in a great spirit, some better than others, but doing it for the right reason.

The guys that do Ruston broadcast are douches. The bat flip wasn’t terrible, and Ruston is chirpy. WM is not, A little fun from the reserves in dugout, but nothing that isn’t good matured.

My question is just how far does it go? HR and bat flip = you should expect a ball at your head. Ok. Cool. After you throw at Starr’s head, is it funny if Wade tells Cupit to warm up? 95 at your head fair game? Would that be funny and warranted?

kids let the emotion get to them. It happens. Adults on a school sponsored broadcast should be above laughter in situations like that.

Unfortunately, I’ve watched a few of their broadcasts and this isn’t out of the norm for them. On the contrary the guys at Neville, WM and others do a good job…Neville is almost 100% play by play. WM is really good all around.

We had a kid take one to the helmet at 90. It laid him open pretty damn good, requiring lime 10 stitches and checking for a concussion.

The bat flip wasn’t a huge deal and I’ve never seen the Starr kid be a jerk, he plays hard.

Jesuit beat Rummel in game 2, so BM and Jesuit are district co-champs.

Catholic has also taken the 1 spot in the power rankings. BM sits at 2, Curtis at 3. If the bracket were made today, most all of the Catholic League teams would be on the same side of the bracket.

Just like the ones that call out officials for things the announcers are actually wrong about(like no automatic first down on DPI, or a muff that goes into the end zone).

yea frick all that. I hate the "throw at his head unwritten rule"

got into it with a friend of mine over that, he thinks it should be happening even at youth level

I said ok, you ok with the batter turning around and hitting the catcher with the bat then charging the mound as a 10 year old? If your son is pitching, you going to be ok with him getting hit with a fricking bat because you told him to throw at the batter?

or what if your kid is the pitcher then comes up to bat, gets hit, breaks a bone and now out for the season....you going to be ok with them being out an extended period of time because you were a douche who cared more about his feelings and the dumbass unwritten rules?

not much gets me as fired up as the whole throw at them thing. pisses me the frick off!!!

updated power rankings going into the last couple games this tonight and tomorrow.

non select

LINK

top 8 for D1 NS is pretty much set

1 Barbe
2 Sam Houston
3 Zachary
4 West Monroe
5 Hahnville
6 Benton
7 Walker
8 Dutchtown

Barbe finishes regular season 33-1 and on a 32 game win streak losing only to the bennet school.

Sam Houston and Sulphur will be on the other side of the bracket as will Zachary. So works out well for them. I think they are scrimmaging TC this week.

South Beau winning the district tournament bumps them above Westlake and puts westlake at the 4 spot where they will have to face a really good erath team in quarters and then sterlington in the finals. If westlake somehow upsets catholic i guess this could change and they could flip flow back but that prolly isnt happening

the south beau win also keeps st louis out of the top 4. They will travel to rosepine in the quarters so at least not a terrible drive.
