This format is what caused Tulane to say they’ll never take another Barbe player due to them all being used up and injured when they get to college

That coach definitely isn’t there anymore. I can’t remember who it was.

In a report by WGNO-TV in New Orleans, Tulane head coach Rick Jones claims his sophomore pitcher Ryan Doiron, a former Barbe Buc, was overused during the state playoffs in 2008. Jones blames Barbe head coach Glenn Cecchini for Doiron's torn labrum injury. Jones claims Doiron pitched eighteen innings over a day and a half in the 2008 5A State tournament. Because of this, Jones says he won't be recruiting players at Barbe anymore. Barbe head coach Glenn Cecchini then spoke to 7Sports and gave his side of the story. Cecchini says while it was a risk to pitch Doiron, he consulted Doiron's parents and Doiron himself about the increased workload. Cecchini claims everyone was OK with the amount of innings and everyone was on the same page.

That's pretty fricking absurd.

The Barbe guy is known for absurd. How he still has that job is anyone's guess.

it is absurd and one of the reason we have pitch counts and rest times now
but that wasnt unheard of back then and to be fair from what i can remember it was more of Doiron saying im going in and winning this, i dont give a frick what anyone says
but yea should have stopped it there. Come a long ways since then
but also a pretty absurd statement to make by jones blaming it simply on that then trying to call out a HoF coach of the best program in the state and saying you wouldnt recruit players from there.

I found that he was a pleasure to deal with when I covered Barbe at Southside a few years ago.

I mean, I get the competitive spirit. But that's why coaches are supposed to be adults.

oh i 100% agree
im not saying it was ok and im very thankful the state in general has come a long ways. I wouldnt have let my kid do that much if he was going to the next level
now where is sucks is someone like me....i knew i wasnt going to play next level, lets say i was the ace pitcher at some small school my senior year.....i should have the ability to make the choice that i dont give a frick cause this is my last ride anyways

West Monroe in a big 3 game series with Ruston, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
With wins, WM looks to wrap up the district championship.

BM beat Karr 15-0. BM sat their starting position players, except for the youngsters. They threw their ace for 40 pitches then an inning each for 2 of their better relievers. While I don't believe they're concerned with losing to Karr even with their backups, I assume the approach means they know that they'll be the 1 or 2 seed in the playoffs.
And, yes, I believe the power rating for BM reflects their schedule. They have played alot of baseball and mostly against good competition. They threw games away against Jesuit and Curtis handling bunt coverage and the running game, or they'd otherwise have walked through the district.
Make no mistake, Catholic is still the team to beat.

Rummel and Jesuit are scoreless early. Nugent v Dugan so runs may be hard to come by but you never know in that league.

Rummel 2- Jesuit 0
Nugent with the complete game.
Nugent with the complete game.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Btw Northwood Shreveport’s wins this season
4A DeRidder
4A Minden
4A Loyola Prep
2A Lakeside 2x
2A Oak Grove
1A Logansport 2x
1A LaSalle
1A Lakeview
B Florien
B Stanley 2x
B Providence Classical Academy 2x
C Pleasant Hill
They have two doubleheaders left against B Elizabeth and 1A Montgomery
Against 5A competition they’re 0-6… this is the last sports season where 4A and 5A schools are in the same playoff bracket. They probably don’t want to play against 5A schools any longer, but trust, the feeling is mutual, they might take a 5A team’s playoff spot. Is that a team worthy of being in a mostly 5A bracket?
It might cost us but I’m glad we’re ethical compared to this
Our wins for comparison:
5A Lafayette 2x
5A Northshore
5A Higgins
5A Salmen 2x
4A Franklinton
4A Hannan
4A Shaw
3A De La Salle 2x
3A Fisher
3A Haynes
3A Thomas Jefferson
3A Patrick Taylor 2x
2A Country Day

Saw ur interview w Joe from the CHNI 1-0 win over STM. Talk about a great kid. Team guy. The kind you need to win championships
PBHS lost 2-0 to U-High. Gave up 1 hit while getting 2 of their own, but E-1 and PB allowed 2 unearned. PBHS actually aligned planets to score 4 runs in a 4-3 win over Sunstrom Tues. i was unable to attend those games
