Why would he have to be dominating it?
Because that's the objective criteria we have.
With what I see they are about what and what.
We can certainly judge by feels though.

Not going to lie, F1 is starting to feel a little stale. Indy has better racing, F1 has the tech. Drop any of the top 15 non-pay drivers in the McLaren and you've got a race winner. Even with bad strategy calls, it's no contest. Same as Red Bull before, same as Mercedes before that. They couldn't even let the race start with some drizzle today.
I love the tracks, I love the speed. It's just not on the edge as much as pure racing should be.

Is the tech getting in the way of the racing?

It's Formula 1. The tech is part of the racing.

Does it make the racing better?

It is a constructors series. That is the race. Everything off the track and on the track is "the race"

Bring back v10 or v8 engines, make the cars smaller, and keep bringing Nico

This has been an odd season imo based on pure entertainment.
It's nice seeing more teams getting points. More points from Sauber, Williams, Haas, etc. Some good competition going on every week for spots 5-10. That's been my favorite part of the season so far.
But overall the races have been very bland this year. I watched every lap yesterday but even with the rain and not a runaway victory, it was a very boring race. There have been more boring races this year than I can ever remember in the time I've been watching, which in fairness, relatively isn't all that long.

6-10 finish is going to be very interesting...seems like one team each week comes out of nowhere and gets "big" points in that range...
And I know Mercedes is only 20 plus behind ferrari but seems 2nd place is over...
And shoutout to Sauber somehow scoring all these points...I thought the were easy dead last...

This fourth and final year of the current regs has been extremely tight in qualy. It shows what a good job both the engineers and drivers have done in working towards getting maximum one-lap speed. Race pace / tire wear is a different matter, but as we are seeing this year, positioning yourself well in qualy is critical because even if your race pace is lacking, it's still hard to pass and you may be able to hold on. Gasly scored a point holding up a DRS train yesterday. I read that they did an aggressive low-downforce setup (ignoring the possibility of a wet race), and that's what did the trick. Tsunoda would be on his arse coming out of Turn 1, but even with DRS he didn't have the straight line speed to get by. I think both Red Bull cars had higher downforce setups in anticipation of a wet race, and that would explain why Max couldn't attack Shaarl.
This second half of the season is going to be harder for the TDF1 predictions because there isn't a set of clear backmarkers. We used to be able to count on Sauber and Alpine at the back, but Alpine got better and Pierre started sniffing points. Now Sauber is doing well. Right now it seems like Colapinto is the only reliable backmarker.

That’s some good shite.

Wow that’s rough. I’ve lurked this thread for years and the bottom sticky has robbed me of my usual daily reading.
I’m now watching YouTube updates to get the news/theories which is not nearly as enjoyable.

I’m in the middle of watching this but it’s so good. Most “candid” convo I’ve heard from Max before.

I’ve seen several clips of this on X this morning, thanks for linking the full video, will definitely watch after work.
