Byron wins it, I don’t know why Hamlin pitted at the end. Would’ve been in 4th and had the chance to play spoiler.

Why? It’s apparently never happened at this track before

They need to give these cars more HP. And worse tires.

Some will say this race is scripted for HMS to get 1/2/3. Well, they were 1/2/3 before the late caution so if scripted that caution never happens.

The racing is bad due to clone cars. And too less HP, meaning just mash the peddle. Look at Bristol for what real racing is. Drivers managing tires, which is same effect as if they had more HP. This race was a parade with scripted stages to bunch em up. It the drivers are trying hard with what limitations they have.

Hamlin pitted because he is locked in chase and can gamble. He figured on more than 1 restart and lost. Had nothing to lose as points mean little its chase poimts that matter.

Watched a few laps after watching the SC Women's Basketball game. Turned it off with about 75 to go and didn't think twice about it until now.

This year will be Hendrick vs Gibbs. 7/8 races have been won by those two organizations. I wouldn’t be shocked if those 2 organizations win at least 2/3 of the races this year between them. They’re all light years ahead of everyone else.

You know HMS spent a lot of time to win this race. Since same shop all cars get extra. It meant a lot to them so its not surprising they spent way more time on the cars for it. Margins are thin so if they found a bit of speed it makes all the difference with clone (clown) cars.

They have a lot of assets to devote to one race prep. The workers are motivated as well. He had an area just for all employees and thats not cheap. Its not hard to comprehend how important this track is to him.

For a spell it looked like Gibbs was going to run away with it. Toyota has been the strongest brand all year so far, until today. Pit strategy was huge as well and that cost Hamlin. People talk and secrets get out during season, and weaker top teams catch up.

I still don’t trust Nascar overall. Although I don’t think today was scripted for HMS to win, I do have thoughts on Toyota. Nascar wants so badly for Bubba to win.

One way to help is to make all Toyotas a bit better. Everyone can notice TV (who works with Nascar) has Bubba on every promo leading up to races. And they feature him way more than normal for someone who has won squat in his career.

I mean, Reddick has done more than Bubba but he isn’t their DEI guy. In fact have people noticed how Reddick ran circles around Bubba last year in his rookie season. And now guess what, his cars are not as good. 23X can’t have him outshining Bubba so his cars are not prepared as good.

All I know is with the Hamlin/23X ownership conflict and the no penalty for Hamlin last week and all the fake press given to Bubba - I wonder if Nascar is helping Toyota to help Bubba to luck into a win. Nascar would sell its soul to have a diversity driver win again. Then it would be nonstop press all season.

Someone tell me why Bubba is shown on TV pre race ads where they show 5 drivers, 4 are usually their superstars and then Bubba is thrown in way out of place. McDonalds spends a ton of money on 23X to maximize their DEI spending box, and wants wins. If the driver isn’t that good then you have to make the Toyotas all better to compensate.

Yup, thats a bit out there. But I don’t trust Nascar. Watched them ruin racing too many times. They want to be in the DEI game and prove its not just for rednecks. And are trying too hard

Reddick: 154 cup races / 5 wins
Bubba: 227 cup races / 2 wins

Fox broadcast was a Hendrick love fest. I forgot 3/4 of the field was even out there. Seemed the broadcast only cared about the 4 Hendrick cars, a few others, and that’s it.

The Fox broadcasts are so bad it’s embarrassing. Harvick has been great in the booth, but he can’t fix it.

He is one of the most followed active drivers across social media. Only Toni Breidinger and Hailie Deegan have more instagram followers than him. Like it or not, NASCAR/FOX are going to leverage that when promoting races, and they'd be stupid not to.

Eric Estepp, who is very even-keeled in all of his videos, was calling this out last night. He couldn't even remember the title sponsor of the race because everything was so Hendrick-centric.

I get it to an extent, but Clint was even blabbing about Hendrick dealerships at one point. If I were the owners of Cook Out, I'd be pissed.

And those TikTokers don’t watch on TV like the other generations. They lose viewers to appease TikTokers. So imo yes, they are stupid. Granted, their first 4 races had higher viewership this year but that wasn’t due to Bubba or the TikTokers.

I will break my streak of watching when they go to that sub only period this summer of 6 races. That might be when I call it for watching. Will watch the trucks and Xfinity though since can still get them. But once I realize I am not paying to subscribe then it might wean me off a bit long term. Can watch F1 and Indy plus the 2 other series.

Its kinda like Bud Lite in a manner of speaking. I drank it out of habit forever. You get used to the taste over years. But then they blew it and I tried other beers and found Yuengling. And it tastes so much better. Now, no matter how patriotic BL goes, I will never drink another one in my life.

My point is I had no reason to try other beers beforehand, but once I did I then realized I didn't need to go back. In the same way, once they put those races on Sub only, I might realize I don’t need Nascar as much as I thought.

I mean it was a big race for Hendrick and 3 of their cars were up front for most of the race.

I’m not a Hendrick fanboy. Not a big chase Elliot fan. I like Larson and Byron. I’m not sure if I have a favorite driver, team, or manufacturer. If I was pressed for my favorite driver I’d say Blaney. I like a several drivers. Blaney, Hamlin, Truex, and Bell are guys I usually root for. But Hendrick was the main storyline today AND they were running up front. It would have been hard not to talk about them a lot.

Jeff Gluck had a passionate rant about how bad short track racing is in the Cup Series. It’s good stuff:
