checo would have been driving for haas at best if not for red bull. they should be grateful for riding red bull's coattails for 4 years.

I kinda like Checo jus staying "el frick it." What does he have to lose? He's already going to get fired.
I mean, the whole continent is behind him, right?
North 'Murica is Checo Cuntry.

He's got a contract and Red Bull deserves whatever they have to pay to buy him out of him considering how stupid they were to give it to him in the first place.

he'll get his buyout, but holy shite. dude was clear arse at a top team, he has to be deluded to think it's anyone else's fault but his.

Max Verstappen now joins Nelson Piquet as the only drivers to win more than one WDC without their team winning the constructors.
This kid is gonna be a beast.

Haven't seen blueboy or whoever it was die hard defending how good Checco is in a while.

If tweet fails to load, click here.
Everyone expects Sainz to be a higher-level driver than Albon, that's not news. But comparing lap times over different days (or even different sessions on the same day) is not valid and the only thing I get out of this tweet is that this guy is either biased or just doesn't understand racing, so he is not worth listening to.
Here are some reasons why the direct lap time comparison is not valid:
1. The track conditions are different, and possibly vastly different.
1.a. Track temperature is different.
1.b. During this test, 20 drivers have been putting in marathon mileage. I read that Lawson's mileage was three times race distance. The track is in much better condition than during qualifying.
2. Air temperature is different.
3. Wind conditions might be different.
4. The veteran drivers are doing a Pirelli tire test. These are 2025 compounds they are testing. Maybe they are better than the 2024 compounds?

I found the results with the lap counts. I couldn't find a perfect chart with lap time, gap, and lap count.
But yeah look at those lap counts. Lawson with 159 laps.
The race was 58 laps for comparison.
And they are obviously on different programs. Lando and Oscar are way down the order. Hulk is fast, but that Sauber is obviously not the 4th fastest car there.

Here are the final standings of the 2024 F1 Destructor's Championship.
The true star here is Franco Colapinto, who managed the 3rd best total despite entering just 9 races. And Williams as a whole, with twice the crash damage as the next highest team, is quite impressive.
A shout out to Pierre Gasly, who came on strong at the end of the season to clinch P10 in the WDC at the last race. He accumulated zero crash damage, at least according to this methodology. And team kudos to McLaren with an impressively low total.

Jeez Perez destroyed some cars.
Looks like anywhere between 1.5 and 2 m is an acceptable range based on these estimates.

McLaren had a really clean season. I hope they can build on it.

Monaco he essentially destroyed the whole car on a passing attempt in an area that never has a pass

Yeah. Oscar raced every lap this season. The only time I remember Lando going out is when Max punted him in Austin

Lando retired in Austria iirc after battling with Max.

Yep you’re right. My brain said Austria and my fingers said Austin. Thanks

Technically not a retirement. He officially finished in 20th and 7 laps back. So technically McLaren is the first team to ever have both cars “finish” every race.
