Worst Case scenario Daniel still rocks up to Austin wearing some ridiculous Cowboy outfit trying to make fun of us Americans.

frick Fat Brown.

The best part is that he's got a tattoo commemorating Danny's win at Monza.

Yeah but Frederic and Otmar don't seem like dickheads. And they are team principals. He's not

So we are distinguishing between principals and owners?

Ok, Papa Stroll has to be about the same BMI as Brown currently is

And you talk about dickheads, come the frick on. Toto, Horner, Stoll, etc... all the ones that get shite done are dickheads.

No different than Steve Jobs and Elon Musk.

I love the guy, but it’s time. RBR should also dump Perez and promote Yuki. Then pair lawson with another promising young driver at vcarb.

DTS naturally made myself and others a DR fan, I never faulted him for moving to Renault as it was rumored at the time the contract Red Bull was offering him was a reduction in pay, while Renault was offering something like $25 mil/year. Even still his performances at Renault, considering it was Renault, weren't terrible. He beat out Hulk in 2019 and Ocon in 2020, even gave them their first podiums(two 3rds) in ages. So as a McLaren fan I was pretty pumped when he jumped ship from Renault and over to McLaren but it just never worked out. The win in Monza followed by Lando's shoulda been win in Russia was a glimmer of hope for him and the team but that performance proved to be mostly an outlier.

He's a likeable guy so you can't help but cheer for him but its been clear for 3 years now that the performance just wasn't there anymore. Bummed to see him go but its time to move on.

Agreed.
VCARB team and car really suck somehow so I still don’t think they should sack him now at this point in the season necessarily but he’ll be alright.

Especially the way they(Red Bull organization) kept Perez this year.

My only regret is that we could not see Danny in Red Bull one more time to see how he would do...if you are Red Bull right now, what is the difference between 1 point or none.

Im not convinced Daniel would do that much better than Perez at this point, and given that Red Bull didn't dump Perez after summer break over rumored loss of sponsor $$ then I had no expectations for them to now make the swap this late.

I suspect if Red Bull thought Daniel was that much of an improvement over Perez he'd have been in the Red Bull to start 2024.

Tinfoil Hat Conspiracy: Daniel IS better than Checo but Red Bull kept Checo thinking Max could nip the WDC on his own and they don't give a damn about where the finish in the WCC because the further down they are the more windtunnel time they get for development.

probably no one is extracting much performance from the red bull this year except max. hopefully they reset fresh next year with a new 2nd driver.

Back markers pitting for fastest lap in 2024

Alonzo in Austria
Zhou in Monaco
Alonso in Imola
Zhou in Suzuka
Ocon and Ricc at Baku
Stroll at Monza
Albon at Zandvoort
Tsunoda and Perez at Spa
Sergeant and Ocon at Hungary

And none of those drivers were given the shot at the fastest lap as a swan song.

I have never remembered a backmarker on the last race of their career being given the opportunity to nick the fastest lap as some kind of send off. It's not something I remember happening with any drivers having a decent following.

I think old Daniel could drive better with more oversteer, like Max prefers, than Checo. I would have liked to see how he would have ended the season in the RB potentially going out on a high note. Sucks that Carlos Slim got in the way.

Yeah I understand that.
But Danny has been woeful in qualifying.
While head to head race results with yuki ended up even,Yuki smoked him in qualifying.
I doubt ric would have done any better than perez to be honest.
Would likely have been damage limitation races just like perez.

I thought about this, and the risk could be that Danny does much better than Perez and just adds more turmoil to a team that seems to be under pressure.

We know Danny is not the answer long term.
