Have some more pride ricciardo and at least finish with some class.

If it were my last race in F1, I don't care abt shite position vs more shite position. At least let me rip the car around the circuit on fresh softs and go off with fastest lap. Helping the team that gave any sense of legitimacy to my career would be a pure bonus on top of it.

Man I feel so bad for Ricciardo with how this weekend was handled. If it was indeed his last one in Formula 1, then they should have said it and let it be a proper send off. He was the last driver to leave the paddock today and the interviews were brutal to watch.

Will not miss seeing Ricciardo show up in Austin wearing some dumb cowboy outfit.

Listened to the race on the way to work and missed the last 1/4 of the race.
Good to see Piastri close the gap back to 8 points from Leclerc.
Closest he's been since the first race.

Don't understand why redbull didn't just make the announcement.
What was the benefit not to.

Ricciardo was a very frustrating driver to follow who never really evolved with the sport.
I still can't get over him moving to Renault when the Renault engine in his red bull kept blowing up every second week.
But money talks.
And a nice little f you to Zac Brown with fastest lap to end it I do find funny.

But now it's on to the young brigade.

You think they still do that if Max was leading the race?

If Lando still had the fastest lap, 100% they do just to make sure Lando doesn't get that point.

I do too. For some reason Lando winning by 30 seconds isn't as fun for me as Max winning by 30 seconds.

Its kind of left in the shadows after the other storylines, but we have our Checo back...

Finished 8 spots worse than Max. All is right in the world

I overreacted with my vitriol towards Danny Ric after the race. Happy trails to him, and I hope he lands in IndyCar.

Yea, I botched my post, that's what i meant to ask, if that poster thinks they still have Danny Ric do that if Max had the fastest lap.

Pretty sure the hypothetical was if Max was leading the race with the fastest lap, would RB have pitted Danny to take it off him. That answer is absolutely not.

The KMag pit was a hail mary at making him competitive, there was strat there so few would have questioned that. RB pitting Danny was only done because daddy called asking for a favor.

Nonsense. It was his last lap in a F1 car in his career. The team did right by him if they aren’t going to let him finish the season.

The only controversy would have been if RB had the fastest lap and Horner called a block, but that wasn’t the situation.

Name another time this has happened in F1 history.

I'm not sure I believe the theories that Red Bull called for that anyway. I could easily see it being something Danny brought up himself. It's well known he loves Red Bull and regrets leaving. I could easily see him knowing he could set the time and wanting to throw one last bone to Max and Horner.

Danny was apparently offered a contract to be the standby driver for Red Bull and said, "naw fam, I'm good".

I don’t blame him for that. He is an eight time race winner, been in formula 1 for 13 or so years, and prolly has money in the bank. Why get drug around the world all year to not drive the car. I’m sure he can get on with another racing series or join Sky sports and be a commentator if that’s what he wants.

I love the guy, but it’s time. RBR should also dump Perez and promote Yuki. Then pair lawson with another promising young driver at vcarb.
