Man I know im still a novice, but how are y’all saying that’s normal racing? They’re both right next to each other, and then Sainz takes a hard left right into him! That was one of the most absurd things I’ve seen since following this. That’s what I imagine happened back in the day when these dudes were all psychos.

Go back and rewatch it. He didn’t take a hard left. Perez front right wheel clipped Sainz back left and that jerked his car to the left into Perez. It was the wheel touch that jerked him hard left

Checo is an idiot. Sainz was on the fricking wall.

Another great race.
Last 2 months have been great.

I was feeling bummed when Piastri cooked his tires in the 1st stint.
Slow in lap and out lap by Leclerc and suddenly it was game on for Piastri when he got past Albon.

His engineer told him to stay patient and next lap he decides it is now or never with a great move using every bit of race track.

Great defensive drive to close it out.

Felt sorry for perez,he finally out qualifies max and has a podium within reach and sainz drifts a half car width into him.
But damn sainz was flying the last 10 laps.

Good to see Williams up there with both cars.

And now that levels Lando v Piastri with 2 Grand prix wins.Though Piastri has a sprint win.
Going to be a great battle between these 2 over the next few years.

I get the feeling these two are not going to be teammates for much longer. I think there's going to be a lot of movement at the end of 2025 and 2026, and Lando is going to be one of the movers. He's tied so closely to McLaren, but he might be feeling a lack of support recently.

Your 4th photo is disingenuous... Its after Checos front right hit Sainz back left and pulled him over further. He wasn't turned into Checo like that pre-impact.

Like it or not, it was a racing incident, as the FIA stated. Don't blame either of them, but Checo should have given a little more room being he was trailing and Sainz woudln't have been able to seem him right there.

You’re wrong. Look at the overhead. The cause of Sainz veering left so sharply was contact by Checo’s right front with Sainz’ left rear.

100%. People bitch about races just being parades and no one fighting to pass, then they bitch when someone is showing an ounce of aggression and a crash happens.

Rubbins' racing, baws, and sometimes shite happens.

Tell me on the onboard where he veered left.

For the record, I say racing incident.

Hilarious that its always Checo that screws the pooch. You'd think he'd be walking on eggshells right now and would have given plenty of room to avoid any contact.

Dude will cost Redbull the constructors this year

I’d say he definitely followed the racing line and Leclerc to the left after the corner and there was a ton of room that Checo could have veered left as well but he obviously didn’t and they collided. Agree with FIA there.
Checo could have easily kept further inside and drag raced him but he was going to keep losing that and he allowed the collision to happen. No points. Damaged car. Dumb dumb.

Yea that's not at all what happened

Watching from both drivers POV camera tells you it was a racing incident. Carlos was driving dead straight (as the twitter link above shows).

If anything, Checco needed to back off/make room, he was beat. I'm a Sainz fan and not a Checco guy so I'd like to bash Checco but it was just an unfortunate racing event. No where near what you're making it out to be.

So disappointed to have missed this race after watching the highlights

Best of the year? Baku is fairly consistent in delivering solid racing for a street circuit.

Thinking of biting the bullet and buying F1tv for the rest of the season because espn isn't doing on demand replays anymore apparently

eta: looked to be LEC's fault from what I saw

I never said he was.
I said he drifted as the pics clearly show.
Perez moved a half body width to the left which gave sainz plenty of room.
